USA Kilger's HT a Work in Progress

Well thought I would make my first thread in this section as I've got some changes planned for my set up. What I am currently running is the following

LG 47lm4600 LED w/ passive 3d
Pioneer VSX-1021-K
Slim PS3
Slim Xbox 360
Direct TV HD DVR

Polk Audio CS2 Center
Polk Audio Monitor 70s Front Left & Right
Polk Audio Monitor 10s side and rear surronds
PSW10 Sub

I've officially gone 3d which is good because at the purchase of the tv I had 33 3d blu-rays lol, currently loving my set up but still hope to replace both the sub and the surrounds soon.
Thanks for taking the time to read

Welcome to the Galleries Kilger, the HT looks great. I like many of us here started with a HTIB. Then comes a little research on the web, a forum or two, and the next thing you know your hooked . Looking at your room I think it is a good candidate, seating against the back wall, for front height speakers. I ran the traditional 7.1 for years before trying front heights and will never go back. Well at least until I upgrade to my 9.2 receiver or maybe 11.2. Just food for thought.

Thank you for the reply and I just noticed I have done some slight changes since I uploaded the pictures in my gallery so I took some more shots this morning to show what it looks like currently and to also give an idea of the room.

We actually moved the the TV and equipment to the corner of the wall as you can see in this photo
[Show spoiler]

Then right next to the TV and Speakers is the Media Cabinet along the short wall.
[Show spoiler]

This next shot is directly in front of the tv towards the seating and you can see one of the rear speakers.
[Show spoiler]

This is the other rear speaker
[Show spoiler]

This is a picture of the tv from behind the loveseat.
[Show spoiler]

Behind the loveseat along the back wall there is a Fireplace and a Built in shelving unit.
[Show spoiler]

Next to the Media Cabinet is the opening to the dining room.
[Show spoiler]

And the opening to the Dining room is huge
[Show spoiler]

And this is just a really rough floor layout of the living room
[Show spoiler]

It's a really nice sized living room, but I am lost/confused on how I can get my speakers set up to get the most out of them.

I checked out your gallery... looks good! Check out my gallery... you'll see we share similar taste in Polks, and in decorations! I have the Legendary Edition helmet in an eerily similar position as you do. Great upgrades from the HTiB, by the way... I started with a Samsung HTiB years ago and have had an absolute blast upgrading over the years. Enjoy it, you've caught the bug.

Yeah I can't remember what my old HTiB was but I think it was a samsung also got my first HD tv which was a toshiba Regza 42in and bought the hd dvd add on for the xbox 360 and got hooked on the idea of having a full hd set up. The little set up that I have has been great but I can't wait to get the M70s, hopefully they will be here by the end of the week. But thanks for the post and I checked out your gallery as well and posted in the gallery and in your thread, It looks great.

Looking at your new arrangement I think it would still be worth trying front heights or wides if you get the 609.

I've been looking into front heights but I think I've figured out a way to do a normal 7.1 set up. Also think I am going with the 609 receiver just have to wait for our Tax return as the wife isn't going to let me spend that just after spending $300 on the speakers. Speaking of the speakers they shipped out yesterday and will be here today! Not bad for free 3 day shipping.

So I've had the 70s for about a week and I am loving them

And I just put in an order for a cs2 from newegg for 109.99.

Still shopping around for a receiver and the wife and I are in " negotiations" to possibly buy a bigger tv or maybe even a projector.

Also I am going to be rearranging the room and setting up the speakers for 7.1 and trying my hand at cable management one thing is for sure, it's going to be a fun few weeks

I see you are reaching very advanced stages of the Upgradeitis disease hang in there...there's still no known cure, might take a while for them to develop one.

The set-up is looking good! Yah, a bigger TV will be killer in that room...

Thanks I got the cs2 a few days ago and I received my pioneer 1021 yesterday really just waiting for my wire and plugs to come from monoprice. I picked up a new digital camera this weekend also so I can put up some non iphone pics of my setup once it is finished.

I've added some new photos to my gallery, some shots of getting the room set up as well as some gratuitous shots of my cs2 and m70s

I love that your "old" HT setup is dated January 2012. And your "new" one is February 2012.

Looks like you have caught the uncuttable disease of upgradeitis. Just be careful because many relationships have ended because of this disease.

Nice job and looking forward to the progress you'll make over time.

Haha thanks, well to be technical we moved into this house a little over a year ago so the older setup is a year old and I've had the receiver and speakers since '09.. Labeled it as jan 12 because it was when I took the pics so it was just the last time it was documented lol

Nice set-up......not a bad start at all. I started on this site with an Onkyo 605, Sony towers, a Polk PSW10 sub, a Samsung player and Sony TV....so your set-up reminds me of my old set-up. It worked great until I hung around here a bit more.....now if you look at my setup/signature, you'll see why my debit card hides from me from time to time. Be careful, this place will make you justify into doing all kinds of things for your audio and video needs......
