Default Logitech and other remotes

Now that Logitech has stopped making remotes who will or should take mantle of making universal remotes.

I broke the damn LCD screen on my Harmony One luckily the remote works though.

We do know Logitech is trying to sell the Harmony line so it's not unreasonable to assume they might not be here in the long run, but Logitech hasn't stopped making Harmony remotes. They're still being sold in retail stores and online. And if the Harmony line is sold the new owner may still support the older remotes we all own.

So what's going to happen when new models come out? I'd like to get an 1100, but Comcast has a new cable box coming out before the end of the year, and it'll be annoying to not have it supported them if they're dropping the Harmony line.

I set up a new 650 a few weeks ago and both the Denon 1913 and Time Warner's new HD cable box (by Samsung) are supported. Like the 650, the 1100 is still "in production" but who knows what resources are being devoted to maintaining the list.

Logitech did sell the Harmony line. See the news story posted here over at Remote Central. Should mention however, that the news story I've linked to was posted on April 1st. *wink, wink* :-P Very clever. Fun read. Check it out! :-)
