IN THE LINE OF DUTY III [aka. Force of the Dragon / Yes, Madam 2] (Eureka Classics)

In the Line of Duty III Blu-ray

Eureka

Release date 20th March, 2023

Quote:
Cynthia Khan stars in her first leading role as a young police officer who goes up against a dangerous duo of Japanese terrorists.

After staging an outrageous jewellery heist in Tokyo, two thieves (Stuart Ong and Michiko Nishiwaki) travel to Hong Kong to trade their stolen goods. When things don’t go to plan, they go on a violent rampage through Hong Kong, and the only ones standing in their way is a newly promoted police cadet and a Japanese cop with a personal vendetta.

Often overshadowed by other films in the series, In the Line of Duty III is the hidden gem of the franchise, featuring shockingly brutal and ferocious action sequences. Not available on home video in the UK since the VHS era, Eureka Classics is proud to present the film on Blu-ray from a brand new 2K restoration.

Yeah that was a nice surprise, as I ordered both tonight. Never seen any of this franchise but have them all ordered now ... and "Yes Madam" turned up today

Some screencaps from the German Blu-Ray. Forgot to post these a few weeks ago.

I got mine Yesterday. Shipped out on the 6th. 7 days from the UK to Oregon, USA. Very nice.

I've never seen III or IV. So I'm game for whatever. But I didn't expect seeing Michiko Nishiwaki doing a certain scene that was in this film. Uh, wow. I mean, I'd seen her in My Lucky Stars but... wow.

She's not someone that I've seen anywhere beyond My Lucky Stars but apparently she's done stunts for US films that I've seen. So I guess I've seen a good bit of her stunt work. I'm getting God of Gamblers when that thing comes out. So I'll be seeing her in there too.

Really good intro to Cynthia Khan, I've seen her image and know the name but haven't seen her work either. So that's a good way to start. If i'm reading this correctly.
[Show spoiler] Does her character make a guest appearance in Tiger Cage II?
I have that set too but I haven't gotten to it just yet. It's the next thing up once I'm done watching ITLOD IV and/or Shaw Box 2. I'm very overwhelmed by the HK stuff here.

She does indeed pop up in Tiger Cage 2! No idea if it’s her same character, but she’s credited with the same name, so seems likely. Just funny considering that was done the year after ITLOD 4 and Donnie Yen was her partner in that, but he actually was a different character in TC2.

I've been watching III and IV a good bit. Commentaries and whatnot.

I do feel like this is a good looking disc but it's a bit on the blue side to me. I dunno. Anybody else see it too? IV doesn't look like this but III does for sure.

I just watched this for the first time tonight. It was certainly a bit more violent than I was expecting and the nudity surprised me a bit. The action was great, really gritty but I felt it could have been shot with a wider angle to show the start and finish of the moves. The filming was a bit too in close and Jason Bourne style, although without the shaky cam effect.

When Eureka and 88 announced this series was being released this film was the least spoken about by fans of the series.

I'd never seen this before but had a feeling it would be good. I was surprised at the violence/gore in comparison to other HK action films and I'm always surprised to see nudity that isn't done for comedic effect.

I hope the releases have been a success for both companies and we get more 'Girls with Guns' releases, particularly anything with Moon Lee, Yukari Oshima and Sibelle Hu.

I know I'm excited for it, I've only ever seen it in VHS quality.

I only tend to update my Wish List when I have it in hand

I'd like to see 'The Avenging Quartet' released on BR. I've only got it on VHS!

I vote for Angel Enforcers, I haven't watched it in years but I recall the Halloween theme featuring on the soundtrack, that has to be worth something...

ANGEL ENFORCERS will be released in Germany some time this year by Shamrock Media. Most likely the release will have English subtitles.

Did anyone else find the Cantonese track on this bad? Bass distortion all over the place and distracting sibilance. The English dub track was night and day better. I'm guessing the Cantonese is from an unfortunately poor optical track.

I only watched the 88 release so far so can't comment specifically but I will say you would probably need to pay me to watch the movie in English.

Normally I would agree, but this Cantonese audio is asstastic on my system, clipping and distortion and sibilance, and nope it's not my setup, it's a poor optical track or something, the English track is night and day just the dialogue is changed, but clearly a different source for the score and effects.
