The receiver manufacturers do not have the authority to modify the Audyssey XT32. However, they are totally free to interpret the results of the Audyssey measurements differently. For example, the decision to set the speakers to large or small is not made by Audyssey. The receiver makes this decision. Audyssey simply measures the speakers' responses and reports them to the receiver. The final decision is made by the receiver manufacturers and how they programed the software.

The only avr that has any differences in the implementation of XT32 that I'm aware of is the Onkyo 818. The difference being that the Sub EQ filter of XT32 has been left out, other than that it's exactly the same. Not sure if it uses the filters from XT or what the exact filters they ended up using are.

I was under the impression that the 818 has the exact same resolution of filters for the subs as any XT32 avr, but lacks Sub EQ HT, so instead of leveling/EQing each of two subs individually, it will only sum them together as if they were one sub. ![]() Last edited by frogmort; 04-29-2013 at 10:35 PM. |
