Default Phantasy Star Online 2 (2016)

Quote:
Sega announced during an Arks Festival stage event on Sunday that its online role-playing game Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2) will begin service on the PlayStation 4 next year. Sega will host playable demos at Tokyo Game Show 2015 next month, and the convention will also host the PSO2 Hōsō-kyoku Dai-35-kai (PSO2 Broadcasting Station #35) stage event.

Oh my! Never thought I'd see this on the PS4. I remember playing the original Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast. Hopefully it lives up to next gen standards and we don't get some really old, outdated type of game.

Oh boy. So many hours sunk into the original. This is great news although expectations are very tempered. I don't see it coming stateside.

Turn Based RPG:

Phantasy Star Online 1 is one of those games that no longer exists from what I could tell, since the server is gone.

Phantasy Star Universe was interesting and the enemies visible. Only played it once.

Phantasy Star 1 was memorable with great graphics for its time on Sega MS, though the challenge of Phantasy Star 2 on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, where you walk every five yards and another invisible enemy forces you to confront them, was too much. If I could only see the enemies to avoid them, that would've been so much better.

Sega did promise a U.S. release, but we saw how well that went and even provided an English demo of the game. Originally released on PC and then ported to Vita and Smartphones. But lately with these Japanese companies, they seem to only localize if the game is on system that appeals to the outside of Japan audience which is probably why we also didn't get Phantasy Star Nova for Vita. So I say it's still a maybe for being on PS4, but not going to count my chickens until they hatch.

Oh, no no, there are still fan servers available for online play. Hell, NeoGAF themselves just made their own one.

Heh, I'm still waiting for them to activate my account, seems impossible to get in over there. So frustrating.

Yeah, same here. I remember Sega saying the game would come out in early 2013 in the U.S. and obviously it never happened. Sucks because the first PSO was (and still is) one of my favorite games of all time, I still play it from time to time.
