The sequel, in development by Rockstar Vancouver, will tell the story of a retired police detective "embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence."

"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

"Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out."

On a slightly different note, wish they'd port 1 & 2 to the PS3 or at least the first one.

they should do both...the second one had a great storyline....or, at least add a really good beginning synopsis.

This is awesome news...My platform of choice for this game will most likely be PC but if it is good I might double dip and pick up for the PS3. Max Payne is one of my all time favorites, along with N.O.L.F. 1 and 2.

oh please....Max has been around longer than Sam and Rockstar ported the original goodness for the console market...I wish Remedy still had control of the license...Rockstar seems to only know violence..

Anyway is this still going to be in new york? it says "Double-crossed and a long way from home" im guessing its somewhere else. i hope not.

EDIT- never mind i read it again. oh well.

Awesome! these were some of my favorites. Be cool if they included the other games with this also, but im sure that wont happen..

I just hope they come out with a Limited Edition that has the first 2 games. Hopefully redone games not the crappy versions on the PS2

Graphics wise and Load time sucked eggs man. Story was great but man. Well the first one anyways

oh, well ok i can give you that i suppose. the story was fantastic in the first one and ok in the second from what i remember.

I like to have the first again. But I have a Laptop so I don't know if Shooters like that are good to play with a laptop. Guess i can always buy a controller. Never played the second but i want it. I think its $4.99 on Amazon.

I loved the first max payne game....it took me a good while to beat it..i did on every difficulty with a friend.

I dunno why maybe because i was use to it...But the second one was either way easier than the first....or way shorter...I beat it quickly and didnt even go back for seconds.

I hope the 3rd one will be good.
I wasnt a real fan of the movie either...
