I hope Best Buy gets this (otherwise I might have to join a group buy).

It's Disney, so I highly doubt they will.

I doubt this is a steelbook Notice how it says "Collectible packaging" in the upper right corner ?

and just for reference anyone remember Future shops other Metal releases had the same wording.

Won't be a steelbook. More likely an Ironpak since Viva Metalpak is no longer legally possible for Disney to produce.

Although, if Disney North America finally decided to pull their egos out of their asses and get back into bed with Scanavo for this release, I will be one happy little piggy.

I don't see any reason to doubt it being a Steelbook. Are there many other times where they explicitly write Steelbook, and it's not one?

Do you know about the whole Scanavo lawsuit against Disney & Viva? The chance of this being an steelbook is extremely slim. Disney North America would rather not release any steel case than do business with Scanavo (official steelbook manufacturer) again.

Yes, I'm the one that broke the news about Viva Metal Box's demise on here so I know all about the issues, but what you're saying is completely speculative. It could stll be a SB, I wouldn't completely dismiss that possibilty.

It can't be an Ironpak though can it because they were banned too which is why Vivas were created. I guess Metalpak/Futurepak is a possibility because as you say, Disney don't seem to want to deal with Scanavo any more.

Although I know it has been said many times, this is likely how people would react to it personally. Business comes first though, companies sue each other all the time and continue dealing with each other. While it is possible it isn't a Steelbook, I imagine Future Shop is familiar enough at this stage to put Metal Packaging if it in fact is not a Steelbook.

I think I am right there with you when it comes to having this as a Steelbook from FS, a happy piggy indeed!!! I'll be there when the doors open on the 25th.

By the way I googled the lawsuit, and this is what comes up
Scanavo has won a lawsuit against Viva" who has contracts with Disney. Doesn't "look" like Disney got sued, from reading it just forced Viva to stop production. Didn't specify $ amount for any damages either. I'm sure further searching would yield better results on my end though.

Well now... THAT is interesting! Perhaps, despite their inability to produce Viva Metalpak cases, Disney was still legally obligated to honour the terms of said contract? That could account for the lack of metal packaging from Disney for the duration since the lawsuit was won. In this case, perhaps said contract has finally expired and Disney is free to step outside the box in which they had been theoretically trapped?

Futureshop specifically lists this as a steelbook, though. The viva metal packs were listed is "exclusive metal packaging" or something similar. So, I'm not sure this will be anything other than a regular steelbook.

Well, that is the great mystery at this point. Due to prior activity, it is safe to say that it is not going to be a steelbook. Due to new information that has come to light about lawsuit specifics and the existence of contracts, it is safe to say that it could very well be a steelbook. And, I do know that there has been a fair amount of personel shuffling around the Head Office where all of these decisions are made/implemented. So, it is conceivable that whomever is now in charge of website listings does not know the difference in metal casing designs. A new person in that position might, like most other average Joes/Janes I talk to about these collectibles, just classify all metal cases as "steelbook."

Time will tell. And I do hope that Disney North America is back on the Scanavo train! That would !!!

If this, be some extremely slim chance, does turn out to be a steelbook, and if the display picture is accurate (title on the front, and possibly on the spine), than that would make me a very extremely happy bunny.

I'd just need someone to get it for me, lol.

Except that online it has always been pretty accurate. When they say steelbook, they mean steelbook. I don't remember futureshop ever listing previous Disney viva cases as steelbooks. They would just call it metal packaging. Of course, I wouldn't be upset if it does turn out to be a viva case like before.
