Default Batman vs Superman

So what is better, the Superman movies or the Batman movies, and what would look better on Blu-ray?

Easy question. - Batman Begins / Dark Knight blow any Superman out of the water.

Superman was sooooo bad. refer to the Superman thread for my opinion on that movie.

Batman is a lot more realistic than Superman. Can't wait for Batman Begins on Blu-ray. Never saw new Superman movie, after what I'm hearing thats probably not a bad thing

They really didn't do anything drastically different. Not as much of a change as I would've expected.

The new Superman movie was pretty good. Bryan Singer is a good story teller, so I think it's worth seeing. It's nowhere near as good as Batman Begins, but it was sure better than Batman Forever or Batman & Robin.

Joel Schumacher sucked.

The Batman movies have been better than the Superman movies overall.

Hopefully Dark Knight lives up to the hype, because it looks like expectations are sky high.

I'll have to go with Batman. Have Begins, Batman and Batman Returns on DVD and intend to get them on Blu. Not very keen on Superman Returns maybe because the image of Christopher reeve as Superman is still stuck in my head.

Batman Begins is the only good Batman movie ever made, there I said it*. Tim Burton should never have been let near the Batman franchise. The only really awful Superman movie is Superman IV.

*disclaimer: not counting the 60's movie, which is fine for what it is.

Tim Burton's Batman movies are quite good. Its Schumacher that needs to stay far far away from Batman.

oooooooooooh god the superman movies suck donkey balls and the superman returns was just about the most freakin awful thing i ever saw, that movie alone is one of the main reasons i dont go to movies theatres anymore, i mean taking the whole family to the theatre looking at $40-50 and that piece of crap came on, man i was pissed, really hoping they were going to do something kool like Batman Begins, but they didnt

Superman has the best (or close to it) super powers but he's too naive and goody goody to use them properly. Imagine if Batman had SMs powers. He'd hire some people to mine all the Kryptonite out of earth and launch it some where far far away then procede to regulate on all the villains with FORCE instead of just waiting 'till the last minute like ol' choir boy Clarke does.

"Bruce...your heart!"

I think it should be noted that even in the Frank Miller incarnation, Batman/Bruce Wayne would never commit murder. That's why he never killed the Joker despite his multiple crimes.

And it should also be noted, the Tim Burton films are beautiful, they just aren't Batman. They're a strange mix of 60's camp and 80's corporate cynicism, with a brilliant director on board for a paycheck. The only "real" Batman film ever made is the Nolan film. Everything else is a collage of work made by people who were either afraid of the material, didn't understand it, or wanted to make fun of it.

The Donner film is a tribute to an American myth and it presents it shrewdly and lovingly. The Singer film is more a tribute to the Donner film as opposed to a re-creation, and I hope he gets a second crack at it.

does the latest superman count? coz Christopher Reeve is the only true Superman. Superman 2, in my opinion was the best Superman movie ever. On the Batman side, Batman Begins is the best as of now; we haven't seen Dark Knight yet. So if we have to compare the best Superman movie to the best Batman movie... I'll have to say Batman Begins, and it can only get better with Dark Knight. Plus, I'm partial to Batman... the character is just deeper.
