Default Fullmetal jacket question

I picked up the original blu version from CC last week for the BB price (17.99). And I had a gift card so I only really ended up paying like $4.00. But I didnt realize there was a deluxe edition. Is it like the fifth element and remastered or does it just have extended features/bonus stuff?

damn. yeah, the original was a little disappointing in the PQ category. I'll have to pick up the new one, it's only $19 on amazon. And I guess I didnt miss out only paying $4.00

Great movie and every time I see it, especially the first half it reminds me of going through boot camp and then through OCS with the Marine Corps. They did an excellent job of giving an idea of what it's like. While not exact, it's the closest I've seen yet. Except they allow them to sit on the footlockers and racks, which you're not able to do.

We had a guy that went nuts when I was there and they had to hog tie him and have the MP's take him out. We never saw him again. We had another guy that was scared to death of the water, they made him spend the entire day standing on the 3meter board until he would jump in the water.

LOL

They should make a movie about Norwegian elite training then

We trained bunker/trench roll-ups with burning animal-intestins and blood spread out everywhere. You wouldnt BELIEVE the smell...until they popped the CS gas on us that is hehe... Used MILES system on the guns with targets along the way. Fun stuff

Full Metal Jacket always reminds me of those green days (even if we did things differently than over in the US) and I will definitely buy the remastered version.

I hate MILES gear, stuff is annoying and incredibly inaccurate. I prefer paintball for training because it seems more realistic.

I did cold weather training in Norway with the Marines, the Norwegians were fantastic people and very nice.

Did you try snow-bathing? Thats fun in minus 20 degrees celsius

MILES was ok for our up-close training. Firing distance to target was around 2-5 meters. We tried them for longer distances also but it was pretty useless as you say.

Hmm, I havent seen the first Blu-ray version but I was surprised at how soft and "unclear" it looked. I was seriously disappointed in this. Perhaps it is a tad better than the DVD but there isnt much to gain here. The new extras are a bonus, but I am not very happy about this purchase.

I'm not sure if this is the best the movie could look but it was in VC-1 encode and I saw the bitrate floating around 15 most of the time. Warner seriously needs to do a separate Blu-ray version not limited by HD-DVD.

Still have The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut to view tonight. Hope they look better because I was sorely disappointed by Full Metal Jacket Deluxe Edition.
