Default October 2013 50 Movie Challenge - Halloween/Horror

The September Challenge is wrapping up in a couple days, so I figured we should get the October Challenge ready to go!

As we've done the last few months, though the goal is 50, we will have different levels for those who wish to aim lower (or higher):

60 Movies - Platinum
50 Movies = Gold
40 Movies = Silver
30 Movies = Bronze

For October, of course, the focus is Halloween/Horror. Given that limitation, we're going to make it a little less restrictive and let you pick ANY 10 sub-categories of your choice within the genre to use for the challenge. (5 movies each for a total of 50)

Here's a starter list for categories. Bring on the suggestions and I'll add them to this list:

Slasher Flicks
Haunted House/Ghost Stories
Family-Friendly Horror/Halloween
3-D Horror Movies
Horror Comedies
Zombie Movies
Werewolf Movies
Vampire Movies
Universal Monsters (classic)
Hammer Horror
Foreign Horror Movies
Creature Features (Godzilla, King Kong, etc)
5 Movies From a Series (Elm Street, Friday/13th, Saw, Final Destination, etc)
First-Person Horror Movies (Quarantine, Blair Witch, Cloverfield, etc)
Horror Documentaries
Sci-Fi Horror
Exorcism/Religious Horror
Stephen King
Action Horror
Natural (Jaws, The Birds)
Thriller (Silence of the Lambs, Magic)
Cult Classics (Re-Animator, Killer Klowns from Outer Space)
Psychological Horror
Supernatural Horror
Horror Remakes
Miscellaneous/Other

If you need more ideas for films to watch, check out the discussion thread of 31 Days of Halloween Movies..

I hate to list this, as I'm against this, but since I have a few to watch next month:

How about a NON-HORROR category??? I know I have at least 9 movies either here, or at the library, that are NOT horror films...

Otherwise I will just add them as bonus films like last time.

My plan is to watch all the horror films I have...like 27 unwatched at home, the rest are coming at the library, then fill in the categories later.

I was kinda planning the same. In my list placeholder post I listed about half my categories, and then left the rest TBD until I start watching some flicks and see where they fall.

As for non-horror, for the challenge I thought we should leave it to just horror this month. I know full well that I wont make it this time, so I think I'm just aiming for bronze, with a lot of non-challenge movies being watched on top of that.

Not sure which category.....exorcism? Does deal with possession.

Fixed, just going with Supernatural. Can include exorcism, religious, occult, possession, etc.

Well, I have watched 4 films this month...only two were horror. I have some NON-Horror films to get through as well, to make an even MORE of a challenge I guess.

Stephen King Movies
1. Creepshow 2 3.5/5
2. Children Of The Corn 3.5/5

NON-Horror Films
1. The Tall Guy 3/5
2. The Happy Hooker Goes To Washington 2/5

2/50!

I am making the categories as I view them. I shall be adding a Zombie Category next time...half way through one such film.

I added Room 237 and Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us. I know Grounded is a stretch but it is based on a horror game so I thought it would work.

I am now at 8 movies.

Picked up today on DVD, for 49 Taiwan dollars, about $1.60 US. Box says 4:3, but it is widescreen and PQ isn't terrible.
