That's just crazy irresponsible of a father...

He's her father and an adult... supposedly... so there's no way she should ever have been in a situation as out of control as he is now claiming... if he cared. It sounds to me more like he was in on the gravy train, but when she wanted to boot him from the train that's when suddenly he comes out with how it was all wrong and he wished he hadn't went along.

He could have easily put the brakes on pretty much everything I saw him complaining about in that article.

Sadly, with many child stars... it seems like the parents are more like children than the kids are sometimes.

He's claiming others took control of her and he lost his influence. Not atypical when it comes to teenagers. Sort of feel bad for him if it's true.

Still, you gotta know what you're getting into when you support your kid being a child star...

But before she turned 18 he ultimately had ALL the control. He could have canned any of the "Handlers" at any time. He could have (and should have) been involved in every part of her career and social life.

Yeah... see... when she was a kid, he was the ultimate (well him and her mother) in terms of legal responsibility, and if he cared then personal responsibility beyond what the law says.

On top of all that...

He was on the show! The Hannah Montana show... He was on the show! So, um, he would have to try to not be involved while simultaneously being on the same show!

So... the "I didn't have any choice" ramblings are from way out of left field to me. He was there, he didn't do a good job, and now he wants to point fingers at handlers.

I'm neither a hater nor a fan of hers... her music is not to my tastes even when I was younger... but a kid deserves better parenting than it sounds like she had available.

Not sure how Satan's a factor in all of this, but I guess it's easier than shouldering all of the blame. He was willing to acknowledge part of his failing as a parent, but in this instance, both he and his wife have to assume all of their shortcomings as her legal guardians.

I can't help but wonder if Disney has churned out any responsible, upstanding adults.....
