Japan Saint Seiya Senki (Dimps/NBGI) Coming Exclusively to PS3 – Trailer + EU Release!

Quote:
Namco Bandai is readying a PlayStation 3 conversion of the popular Saint Seiya manga and anime. Revealed in a two page spread in this month's issue of V Jump, the PS3 game is titled "Saint Seiya Senki" (which could perhaps be translated as Saint Seiya Chronicle).

Jump describes the adaptation's genre as "cinematic melee action." The various Saints will be facing off against countless enemies. Characters confirmed or the game include Cygnus Hyoga, Dragon Shiryu, Andromeda Shun, Pegasus Seiya and Phoenix Ikki.

While there are no gameplay specifics yet, Jump does mention that as you fight, you'll see messages from your fellow saints, shown at the bottom of the screen.

A release is set for this Fall.

Japan PS3 Saint Seiya Adaptation Developed by Dimps

Quote:
Famitsu has a report on Saint Seiya Senki this week. Our usual sources for early Famitsu leaks are reporting that the magazine lists Dimps as the game's developer

Dimps' credit list includes Street Fighter IV, but the studio has also worked on various Dragon Ball titles and the Sonic series. More relevant to the franchise at hand, Dimps was developer on PlayStation 2's Saint Seiya The Hades: Chapter Sanctuary.

We'll be back with additional details if the magazine has anything new. Otherwise, turn back tomorrow for the game's first trailer.
Namco Bandai's publishing, only announced for Japan so far.

June 23, 2011 – The Mythical Warriors of Athena are Bringing the Action Back to Europe in 2012 Exclusively for PlayStation 3!

NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe S.A.S today announced that SAINT SEIYA - Sanctuary Battle, the new action game based on the popular SAINT SEIYA anime series created by Masami Kurumada, is heading to Europe in 2012 exclusively for PlayStation®3.

SAINT SEIYA - Sanctuary Battle will immerse players in the most popular drama from Saint Seiya: the Sanctuary, as Seiya and his companions fight side by side to defeat the gold saints of the twelve palaces and protect Athena. As players complete quests and progress through the twelve levels, they can inflict tremendous damage on their foes with fast-paced Cosmo power-up attacks.

SAINT SEIYA - Sanctuary Battle will also include a special mode which allows the player to go further in Saint Seiya universe with alternate stories to delight the fans. The game’s environments, characters, Myth Cloths and enemies have been designed to be faithful to the anime. Featuring the original Japanese voiceover, the game will offer the most complete mythical Saint Seiya experience ever.

NAMCO BANDAI Games is pleased to announce that it will be showcasing SAINT SEIYA - Sanctuary Battle at the Japan Expo event in Paris from June 30th to July 3rd 2011, with an on-stage demo and world exclusive first ever playable version of the game on the NAMCO BANDAI Games booth.

St Seiya has always been a guilty pleasure of mine since its premiere in France in 1988.
Very flawed (drama pushed to extremes, and fights stretched so much using -but I have some "cosmos" left in me!- it makes DBZ's look like a breeze), but graphically stunning, the mythos (Greek mythology in a blender with some margarita mix) is exciting and the powers and armors always interesting.

Seems they are starting with the Sanctuary battle. Wonder if it 'll be followed by Poseidon and Hades chapters? (and if they are going to use the non canonical but imo very well done -for St Seiya- Asgard Chapter).

If the game itself is any good, I just might get it hehe
