Australia Don't Look Now - Umbrella Entertainment

I have been searching high and low for some kind of review or information regarding Umbrella Entertainment's release, in Australia, of Don't Look Now. Considering the negative reviews regarding all of the other DLN releases up to now, I'm very anxious to see if this one is also problematic or if, finally, they got it right. It has a pretty high price tag ($18+ Australian on JB HiFi) and I'd be willing to shell that out IF I can be assured that the quality is equal to the price. Has ANYONE seen it, or seen any reviews?

I haven't seen it about, but it's probably a port of the recently recently remastered UK BD, which I think was through Studio Canal from memory. I have it and whilst not mind-boggling, it looks terrific when compared to previous versions. And the audio is finally sorted. Good extras too.

This is the one I just purchased

Also the Umbrella cover clearly displays a Studio Canal logo. Umbrella have been picking winners later with their sources: Shout, Criterion, Arrow etc. I'd have faith they picked a good source

Please let me know what you think after you've watched it...you'd be the first review I can find! I even wrote to Umbrella asking THEM if they could refer me to any reviews (ridiculous, I know, but I'm desperate).

The UK BD was remastered? I was not aware. Have they done away with all the DNR that plagued the first release?

no there is no new UK release. It was from a good source, but they mucked up the transfer to blu (although I dont think its that bad).

Who knows maybe Umbrella have not done a direct port despite using the same source.

This comparison doesn't show any other Blu-ray release, but the UK release looks OK to me...
