Looks like Vertigo and Psycho are in the wrong sets, chronologically speaking.

^I think they concentrated on having a similar proportion of "essential" and "lesser" films in each vol.

I should waited for these collections and not buy them all separately. Takes alot space in the shelf.

Does anyone know why the films have been split in this way, it seems a bit weird how they've been placed.

they mix up his best movies with his lesser known ones so people will buy all boxes instead of their favorite one.

Isn't it just that the first box is up to 1960 (Psycho) and the second box is after 1960?

Oh no wait, that would make Vertigo in the "wrong" box.

I don't know then - probably what Mansinthe said then!

Not really, Vertigo is '58'

Going for individuals myself: Psycho, Rear Window, Birds, (already own) Frenzy, Vertigo, Rope, released end on September.

As for the others, not that I don't want them, just never seen them, anything I'm missing out on, or should avoid?

Thanks

You should definitely consider 'Shadow of a Doubt', it's one of his very best imho (also 'North by Northwest' and 'Strangers on a Train' from Warners).

I would say that Psycho and Vertigo are of equal weight. Seems odd to mix up just those two titles when otherwise the sets are chronological.

I think if they did them chronologically there would be a worry that consumers would only buy the 2nd volume. Each set has 2 masterpieces and 5 near-masterpieces!

Meh, traded in my Last Of Us game (which I plan to rebuy once DLC comes out) on top of my £17 CEX voucher and got the ENTIRE set for £38, which is a bargin if you ask me. Bare in mind i've only ever seen two Hitchcock films, so this is quite the set for me. Plus I absolutely loved Psycho. Even as a teenager I always admired that film, even if I didn't find it as scary or visceral as say A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Shame North by Northwest isn't on there. Heard that's reference quality as far as restorations goes.

Do those sets include everything that was in the bigger one?

Good question, i'm not sure. I know that both of them include the same nummber of films, which is the most important thing imo.

I don't think there were any bonus discs with the full set. So the discs should be the same. Great find in CEX!

I know, was well stoked. Found out about it ages ago and only just managed to get it! It'll be even cheaper next year. I predict about £30. But my set's in great condition.
