Default Android Tablet

I'd like to buy a tablet in the near future. I've never had one before so I know very little about them. I've looked at a couple online. Note that I'm cheap and I don't want to spend more than about $200 at the very most. I don't want a huge one and something like an iPad is out of the question based on price alone. I was thinking of going with something that runs Android as that's what my last couple of phones have ran and I'm familiar with Android and like the way it works. However, with the new Kindle Fire HDX coming out the older Kindle Fire HD's can be bought for as little as $139. All I'm really looking for in the tablet is a wi-fi only device (no monthly service charge) that I can use to check email, get online and browse forums, Amazon, etc. and play the occasional game. I would prefer it had a camera and USB port but those aren't absolute deal breakers. Is there anything reliable out there in my price range or am I living in la-la land here?

Thanks for any information/recommendations you can make.

kindle fire will work wonders, just keep in mind it doesn't have the google play store, but uses amazon's app store. all the major apps are on both but some of the more obscure stuff might not be.

i know 200 is the most you want to spend, but you should adjust and make 229 the most

A Kindle Fire can be relatively easy to root and install Google Play on. I bought a Fire HD 8.9 this summer and it runs just like any other Android tablet now.

i mean, if you want to go through the trouble of rooting...i guess. or you just buy the nexus and get the latest versions of android on day 1 and not have to worry about it

I currently own the new Google Nexus 7 4.3, I love it! It pairs well with my Samsung S4 Android phone, the screen is higher res than iPad Mini, it is fast and it has very good speakers.

I also like the live widgets and I can customize the tablet anyway I want.

I appreciate the responses. After going out and looking around and playing with some (as opposed to looking at them online) I think I'm just gonna pony up some more money and get a Galaxy Tab 3 8". My wife on the other hand wants the new Kindle Fire HDX.

My wife and I each got one and we've had them a couple of weeks now. We're very happy with them.
