The Lookout Blu-ray Review

Excellent movie, agree with the site review. 8.9/10 for the movie and 4.5/5 for the PQ and AQ. By far the best performance of the young Joseph Gordon Levitt's career and I doubt it will be the last. Suspenseful movie headlined by phenomenal performances and dramatic scenes, definitely recommended by me.

Great movie. Definitely not "by far the best performance" of Joseph gordon-Levitt's career (see: Manic, Brick, Mysterious Skin), but still a great movie.

A very entertaining film. Everyone should rent the title - it may surprise you.

Very good movie. This is the second of three movies I've seen Matthew Goode in (1st is Matchpoint, 3rd Watchmen) and in all three I didn't realize it was him till the end credits. I think that speaks to his ability as an actor, he's almost unrecognizable from role to role.

I really liked the movie as well. I have it on DVD. Not sure if I exactly need it on blu though.

There's a lot of people that say things like this and I never quite understand it. Wasn't this filmed in HD? But that's not even the point. To me, I look at it as there's a far supperior version available, I enjoyed the movie/TV Show, it's worth the upgrade (even for comedies).

I said that because although it is a great movie in my opinion, it's one that I haven't watched over & over. Having it on DVD is good enough for me. It's not one that I want to spend more money on since I already have the DVD.

There are other blus (since I'm just starting my collection) that I'd rather purchase first before I consider buying this one. I don't have a whole lot of money, so I try to make sure the blus I do buy have that "re-watch factor."

See now that makes sense to me. And I agree with you on the rewatch value. I like this film a lot, but I think I've only watched it twice.

I just wasn't sure if you meant a film like this doesn't diserve the HD treatment (like in the thread about The Office there's people saying shows like that have no reason to be on Blu-ray but I strongly dissagree).

I thought it was decent. Terrific performances, but the heist plot was generic and it fell apart at the end.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's got a bright future though. I remember seeing him in a guest spot on Quantum Leap about 17 years ago. Who knew he'd come this far?

I agree with you about The Office in blu. That's my favorite show, and if I had the money, I'd be going right after work & buying the season 5 set. Heck, I'd be buying 3 blus/week like a lot of people on here! I just can't do that now.

Back to the topic though, I agree with the above posters who said The Lookout is well worth a rent.

DVD Beaver has an excellent comparison up for the Miramax/Disney and Miramax/Echo Bridge releases.

If one is interested in this film, might want to grab the 2007 Miramax/Disney release before that stock dries up to the point it becomes even more expensive to find.

You really have to give it to ol Echo Bridge...they've single-handedly taken on the thankless and noble quest of making every* other distributor in the game seem favorable in comparison.

*There is Media Blasters and all, but they're just not as fun to rip apart.

Alliance still issues the film in Canada, & has all the data from the Disney release.
