Default Blu-ray and HDMI woes

Hi

I have just finished building a new HTPC based on the Asus M2A-VM HDMI MB which has an Integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics.

The drive is the Pioneer BDC-202 which was bundled with BD Solutions (Power DVD). I am running Vista 64bit Home Premium.

Having completed the build I can play blu-ray disk when connected to my HP w2207 via the 15 pin D-sub connector. However when I plug the system into my Panasonic TV via the HDMI cable, BD solutions fails to play the disk. It comes up with an error 0140 saying the graphics card is not supported although it seems quite happy when connected to a PC monitor.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Hi Dave,
My guess is compatibility issues, check out THIS LINK. You could try and use AnyDVD HD which is needed if you don't have HDCP compatibility.
Hope that helps,
Boggie

I was thinking of using this board as well, and would also like to hear of other people’s experience of using it.

Dave,
How well did it work over VGA?
What output formats are supported?
Can you get it to work with the DVI output connected to your TV’s HDMI input?
Is it just BDs that won’t play over HMDI?
Can you get anything displayed over HDMI, even just the start-up screen or desk-top?
What model and year TV do you have?
Do you know what video formats your TV will accept over HDMI?
Have you tried outputting say 480p or 720p over HDMI?

Cheers, Nick

I am also having difficulty having my Sony Vaio notebook VGN-FZ180E (w. Blu-ray burner/player) play Blu-rays on my Sony SXRD 55". I get an error message on WinDVD saying something along the lines of "STOP... display format does not allow playback of content." I've used HDMI hook-up and monitor hook-ups neither will allow playback of BD's. I can get desktop image on the TV and do everything else. Anyone know how to resolve this???

Thanks,
JC

IIRC the SXRD TVs don't allow 1080p over HDMI - better check all the small print of the manual!

Have you tried the VGA interface?

have you tried a different resolution?

Nick
