2 Amplifiers, 1 set of speakers

Hi All,

I'm in need of help regarding my future basement setup. basically, I'll have 2 identical TV on the wall side-by-side, one for me when I play/watch movies and the 2nd one for the kids when they want to do their thing. I'll have 2 amplifier, one on each side that will have multiple video games console (about 13 total lol) connected, all the retro on one side and all the modern on the other one.

Where the fun/headache is, I only want one set of speakers (5.1 setup) in the room. Having 2 speakers side-by-side or on top of each other would look weird and wonky so it's out of the question. I will use wireless headphones when both TV are used while the other TV uses the surround setup.

Is there available for switch this particular setup ? I found some for 2 speakers but not for a complete 5.1 setup. I'm to the point where building a switch myself is my last resort.

You’ll never find a 5.1 ‘speaker level’ switch with multiple inputs and one output. Speaker level switching is messy because it requires lower gauge wires and crosstalk is a problem. I’m guessing the LFE is line level further complicating things. It would have to be an all custom job.

This kind of thing is more common at the line level. If you have separate power amps for the speakers, you could use a basic DB25 A/B switch and db25 to RCA phono snakes from the preouts of the receivers/preamps.

if the switch is an on/off/on type, crosstalk shouldnt be problem, right ?

not a bad idea for a dedicated amp for speakers, not sure the idea of a 3 amp is going to pass with my wife tho, hehe

i use one of these https://www.nilesaudio.com/product/a...lector-FG00003 for my 2 front speakers but when i was looking into it i saw people talking about using more then 1 of them for 5.1. ud need 3

yeah my option are limited. and it wouldnt solve the subwoofer problem. I think the idea of another amp to control the sound it the logical and safest choice. a used one should do the trick.

Sounds like what you want is 2 preamp/processors, feeding a receiver that is powering your speakers...

Hi, sorry for the delay, I need to subscribe to the threads I post in. Say you get a fairly inexpensive processor, like an Emotiva UMC-200 and feed its analog outputs into an AVR that has 7.1 analog inputs (Marantz SR6014). Then the Marantz will power all the speakers, and each TV will have its own processor/switching device.

not sure I'm following you with this setup. I cannot find the picture of the small device I made, I'll try to take a picture tonight and show.

could something like this work ? A being amplifier A, B to be my dead spot between both amp, C being amplifier B and the output being I/O ? I would change the connector behind to accept bigger wire gage like a Deutsch/Amphenol 12 pin connector and maybe have to rewire the switch inside ? dunno, just doing some thinking here.
