Amy Berg on Her Hollywood Sex Ring Documentary: ‘It's Bigger Than the One Case’

The Oscar-nominated documentarian tells TheWrap the problem is pervasive

Oscar-nominated documentarian Amy Berg confirmed that she has been working on a film about alleged sex abuse rings operating in Hollywood for the last two years.

“It is a huge problem, it's pervasive in Hollywood and the time to explore it is now,” Berg told TheWrap when asked about her top-secret project. “It's much bigger than anything about the one case.”

Berg, who recently made “West of Memphis,” an acclaimed documentary on the West Memphis Three, said the film includes the latest accusations against “X-Men” director Bryan Singer, who was sued last week for allegedly raping a teenager in the 1990s.

Last week, Jeff Herman, the lawyer for Michael Egan, Singer's accuser, told TheWrap that he encouraged his various clients to cooperate with Berg's project. The UK's Daily Mail first reported on the documentary last week.

Berg was reticent to offer more details, but she promised that there would be plenty in the project, which is nearing completion.

The documentarian is currently working to promote her first narrative feature, “Every Secret Thing,” a crime drama about a detective looking to unravel a mystery surrounding missing children.

“Every Secret Thing” stars Diane Lane, Elizabeth Banks and Dakota Fanning. It debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday.
