Default Ever been burned by a new release Tuesday price?

Well, I bought Robocop last Tuesday for $24.99 at my local Target. Yep. I knew I was overpaying by a bit but I didn't feel like driving around for a better price. Was in Target today and it was on sale for $14.99.

I've just revaluated buying new releases on Tuesday

How long have you been collecting blu rays? I think you need to check this forum out more often. There is always great information on here for new release on here every week.

Yes, but what he means, I think, is this new-ish trend of suddenly dropping the price much lower than the release week price not long afterwards It never used to happen. If you bought a DVD on release week, you were certain to get the best price you'd ever see for at least a year. No more. I got burned by both The Great Gatsby and Gravity, which I bought on release week, only to see much lower sale prices just a couple of weeks later.

Keep your receipt?

It's even cheaper tomorrow.

Not only can you bring your receipt to the service desk for a price adjustment, the movie is going to be $13 starting Sunday, so wait til then to get the adjustment.

I love the movie Prisoners, watched it in theaters and bought it on release day for $22.99. A week or two later saw it for $16.99 on Amazon, I don't regret it but I don't think I'll be doing day 1 purchases it doesn't seem worth it when you can save $6-10 a couple weeks later. I can buy a bargain bin or catalog title with the money saved.

Unless it's a cult title where the prices rarely drop, I almost never buy new movies on the release day anymore. In fact, I usually wait a couple months until they're $7.99.

Use this site to find the lowest price on any given day, buy the Blu-ray, enjoy your purchase, and don't look back.

It's common for new homeowners to spend months looking at prices of other houses after they have already purchased their own houses, and it's common for new car owners to spend a long time looking at car dealer prices after they have already signed the dotted line of their own vehicles. It's human nature, but this kind of thing can also drive you insane.

Seriously, I have almost NEVER bought titles on day one, because unless it's a limited title that will sell out quickly, it will ALWAYS go down in price, sometimes barely WEEKS after being released, so anyone who buys movies on the day of release is a bunch of...

Bought Short Term 12 on release day at Walmart for $20. A month or two later, Best Buy had it for $10. And then there's the Wolf of Wall Street, although that one was worth it to me for the Best Buy exclusive.

You got ripped off in the first place because Target's prices are company-wide instead of regional like Walmart, especially with advertised items. Robocop was advertised at $19.99 during release week so you definitely overpaid.

Seriously, you were missing out on the best deals for years during the dvd era then. During the late 90's and early 2000's it was so well known that dvds saw their greatest discounting during release week that it was even reported on TV news that that was the best time to buy, assuming you're not factoring the used market of course. But, those days (years) are over, and have been for a while now. Modern retail thinking is more along the "milk it for as long as you can" line, but truthfully retail pricing isn't even the same anymore. Price drops as drastic as Robocop within the first week are far too uncommon to be predictable though.

Big time years ago, until I wised up. Unless I know the slip will disappear quick, I usually wait up to a month to bite, or I bite and hold onto that receipt for an adjustment.

I thought someone bumped a thread from the early part of Blu-rays inception or something. I was wrong.
