Default Bad BD/UHD Remixes with New or Missing Audio

A list of those poor 5.1 plus remixes that contain new audio or are missing original audio. If it's simply the same original material rejigged to be spread out through a greater number of channels then it doesn't belong here. Minor tweaks such as volume adjustment or placing the same. I'm not a fan of remixes in principle, but this thread is here to sort out of the harmless also-rans from the kneecapped. Any corrections or additions are most welcome.

Added: CLERKS.

Compared BD 5.1 with original 2.0 stereo mix (can't remember if it was DVD or LD).

Well, I didn't have to look far to spot the flaws with this one...

All of the original Foley from the opening credits sequence song is missing.

Fridge opening, milk being poured, cash reigster, etc... ALL GONE.

They really weren't trying here.

No point going any further.

That issue originated with the Clerks X DVD release from 2004, it's just simply the same track they created on that DVD ported over to the BD. Odd considering the streaming versions restore those sound effects and have the BD master. One other thing to note about that audio track, there's a change later on during the scene whenever the mother and child go to the video store to rent Happy Scrappy Hero Pups. The girl's voice was altered to where it now has the girl's actual voice, in the original mix it was dubbed.

Is it possible you can actually for The Exorcist specify that it's the extended cut that has the bad remix? Yes it was reconformed to the theatrical cut for the 4K disc, but before that, it was exclusive to only the extended cut (and should've stayed that way). Can you also add the 1998 5.1 theatrical cut remix as a good remix for The Exorcist? It's remarkably faithful to the original mono and I was sad to see it get replaced with the reconformed Atmos remix for the 4K disc. The 1998 remix originated on the 25th anniversary DVD and that same track is on the 2010 BD.

There is also no UHD currently for 1941, only a BD.

Grease is also Paramount not Universal and it's only the old BD that has that revisionist mix. The remastered BD has the same 70mm track as the UHD does.

There's a typo on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

I have a couple to add as well.
Saturday Night Fever (new foley and a missing song cue in the opening)
Witness (new sound effects and missing dialogue in one scene)

Right, so... Extended Cut on BD 5.1 and Both Cuts on UHD Atmos = Bad; and Theatrical Cut on BD 5.1 = Good with no new Foley?

Yep

I extensively checked the 5.1 on the BD repeatedly and I couldn't find a single new sound effect, the mono sounds are retained but are simply stereoized. I'd argue it's a significant improvement over the 1979 remix (the mix on the 1997 DVD), especially considering that one did have "enhancements" that popped up on occasion. The only remote issue I could find with it was during the "do you know what she did?" scene, the background sounds of Chris's staff repeatedly knocking on the door were missing (which were fortunately restored on the 4K mono track). I even noticed a fair amount of hiss on that remix which shocked me, I wouldn't doubt there was DNR applied to it but it wasn't heavy thankfully and as a result the fidelity is miles better than the heavily DNR'd extended cut remix.

Does this affect both BD releases? The directors cut release has both cuts included.
I only have the DVD so far, I'm not sure how correct that is.

Spider-Man 1's UHD Dolby Atmos track has added sound effects, most notably in the scene during the final battle where Norman throws a grenade at Peter, as well as accidentally adding back the sound of the glider flying in during the shot of Norman going "Oh." before he's killed.

Spider-Man 2 and 3 don't have the same problems with added/missing effects but do have music phasing issues, and adjusted volume/effect placements.

That's not entirely unusual for remixes though, is it? Should I add as a bad remix? What do other peeps think?

Does the " +Foley" on Smokey and the Bandit mean they've added effects? Because there are actually a number of missing sound effects also.

+ = added Foley and - = missing Foley.

Will change, thanks.

For example with Spider-Man, that has the original 5.1 present as both a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track and as the Atmos track's lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 core.
Will definitely consider this idea.

The 5.1 mix on the Vertigo Blu-ray and DTS:X mix on the 4K UHD completely fix the problems with the 1996 remix in terms of foley.

I don’t mind these if they also include the untouched soundtrack. I do mind when they don’t include it.

Black Christmas. The original 5.1 remix is about as revisionist as it gets. Every single sound effect was replaced, and music cues were also very inaccurate. Thankfully the new remix done for the UHD release is far more faithful.

The foley in the UHD of Blade Runner: The Final Cut was changed around. Some new foley was added, and other sound effects are changed compared to the original 2007 5.1 mix, which used mostly the same foley as the original Dolby Stereo mixes from earlier versions.
