I got up this morning and turned my TV on to finish up a download/install of a game I purchased on Steam, I realized it had 20 minutes left to go, so I turned the TV off to let it finish.
I come back, turn the TV on, finish installing the game, and then decide to run the anti-image retention scrolling white bar. As the white bar scrolls, you can see patches of flickering pink/magenta colored pixels all along the top of the screen. I let the white bar scroll for about 5 straight minutes and it's still there. I haven't had enough time to see if it's noticeable during gaming or movie watching, but I didn't see it against my PC wallpaper background, no pink pixels or any flickering of any kind, but once the white scrolling bar is activated it sticks out like a sore thumb. I'll do more tests when I get home. Has anyone heard of this? I've read several posts saying it goes away once the set warms up, and others say it's a faulty board. UGH!...I hope my TV isn't broken ![]() |

PCB board.
Easy fix if one of the flat wires is loose. New board if not. Board isn't as easy...mainly..."are there any boards?" Ironically. That wire connector(if this is loose) is the same problem Onkyo had on their X08/X09 AVR. |

![]() I would think it would show up against any colored background, not just white. Oh well, I'll give that fix you mentioned a try and go from there. |

Okay, so I went home for my lunch break and sure enough it still shows up on the white scrolling bar. I turn my PC on and drag an open file with a white background to the top of the monitor to see if it will show up against the white background, and nothing...no specs at all. What's up with that?

![]() ![]() So this is it. This is what I get when I run the scrolling white bar, it's patches of magenta colored flickering pixels that stretch the entire length of the TV (the upper part of the screen, from left to right), but when watching movies or playing games, zip nada nothing. If it's not affecting my movie watching and game playing, then I won't worry about it, but I'm curious as to whether or not this is leading up to a much bigger issue in the future. I've searched all over the internet, and I've yet to find anything else like what I'm experiencing.
I've found several places where people talk about flickering magenta or red colored pixels, but the kind that show up during movies, games, and TV watching and are VERY noticeable. This is so weird. It's nice to know it's not messing with the things I enjoy doing on my TV, but now it's starting to sit in the back of my head and bother me. Surely SOMEONE else has had this problem. |
