I've been looking forward to this, although I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if either of my local cinemas were to screen it.

This appears to be getting a big push in the UK so hopefully it’s easy to check out when it comes out, I’d love to see this in the cinema.

Giving this a whirl tonight with a friend (same one who watched Saint Maud with me). She saw the trailer recently and liked what she saw and I gotta say, I did too.

That was pretty fun! Absolutely loved the look and atmosphere of the film. For anyone who's a fan of this section of British Film History, you're probably going to have a ball with how well they capture the look and feel of these films. For me, I am much less familiar but was easily able to get in the groove of what it was laying down without issue. Niamh Algar was terrific in the lead role as someone with some serious trauma gnawing away at her psyche as the film progresses (though she oddly enough looked like Katherine Waterston to me).

I enjoyed this movie as well. As someone who isn't well-versed in the history of horror films, this was a bit of education for me. I didn't know about the "Video Nasty" hysteria that took hold of England at this time prior to seeing this film, but the movie did a good job in conveying this history without bogging down the plot. The opening credit montage was enough for me to get an idea what the censors were tasked to judge (assuming those were clips from actual movies). In the States I think the bigger concern was more with music, and getting sexually suggestive and violent lyrics branded with warnings to "protect our youth".

As for my experience with my screening of Censor, there were audible gasps from the audience when
[Show spoiler]the mother character unexpectedly went full-tilt anger (I wish I could remember what she said in the surprise of the moment)
. The greatest tension for me was
[Show spoiler]if Enid's quest for the truth was leading herself into a snuff film, and it... kind of did, but with the tables turned
. And of course,
[Show spoiler]the story had to wrap-up on a "meta" note, complete with worn tape distortion (love that aesthetic)
.

Hopefully this will see light on Blu-ray.

And $8 rental is a bit steep, but I will probably succumb.

It would be a cruel twist if this movie only screened in North America, and not in its native England.

As a horror fan, I found the morality-police lead character a little too self-righteous and uninteresting for me to get into this movie as much as I'd have liked to.

It was fine for a one-time streaming watch, but not a movie I'd ever revisit.

Very good. Niamh Algar was very good and always happy to see Michael Smiley. Liked the shifting ratios and the ending was well handled.

It's up for sale on Vudu, so I bought it. Going to give it a watch tonight probably. Have to wait for the sun to go down before watching shit like this.

I quite liked it. Very lean and mean little viddy. The ending was pretty great. I dug it. There's one jump scare that damn near gave me a heart attack. ****'s sake. Nice to see all of the little nods to stuff like Evil Dead too. There's one little bit where they repeat the same shots where Ash is chopping up Linda. The film isn't about that, but that's a nice little cherry on top. I quite liked that it was only about 80 minutes too. Definitely gets to the point.

I saw this site's confirmation of the blu-ray being released. So glad this is getting a physical release and not dumped to some streaming service I don't want to subscribe to.

No extra features listed, but it ought to at least have the director's short from which this film is based. That's all I wish for... that and a commentary track
