I enjoyed this one, for the most part. Wasn't crazy about the voiceover, but it had some great visuals and a really good soundtrack (just got the Waxwork release a couple days ago). It's a shame that it looks to be a fairly bare-bones disc. I'll definitely revisit this one when it's released.

I liked this movie too and thought it was unfairly neglected by critics and audiences. It feels a little too hollow in story, but it's just gorgeous in production design, cinematography, and music. My logline opinion is that it's like an A24 movie for young adults. I wish the director could make more fairy tale films like this.
And that cover is minimalism used poorly. I do not like. I still want to own this eventually though. |

Doubtful, this was a small budget film, nothing high risk. It felt very similar to the director's first film: I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, which also features a healthy amount of narration.

Featurette, otherwise the promo pics would show a book.

I was going to skip this because of the mostly negative reviews, but you all have now changed my mind. Will definitely pre-order. Also, I didn't realize this was directed by Oz Perkins, The Blackcoat's Daughter is one of the best horror movies to come out in a very long time, imho. One of my new favorites.

I feel like it could've benefited from being a bit longer, but I really appreciate how Perkins dgaf about mainstream Hollywood norms, it can be a pretty strange movie 😁 Blackcoat is still his best though. |

Gretel & Hansel is such an awkward name, it doesn’t roll off the tongue well. It’s like calling them Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen or Jelly and Peanut Butter sandwich.
Weren’t their discs being distributed by Fox? |

Not anymore, as their deal was set to expire this year. Fox’s buyout by Disney pretty much shut down their home video department. Recent MGM films like Fighting with My Family and The Addams Family have gone out through Universal.
