Hotel Transylvania 2 will probably do 50M+. A new family film and coming off a really well loved first one, I wouldn't be surprised if it even touches 60-70M+.

I'll be seeing Green Inferno and The Intern.

There really hasn't much in the way of buzz for Hotel Transylvania 2, especially ever since Pixels flopped.

Hotel Transylvania 2 $38 million
The Intern $13 million
Everest $10 million (opening weekend's looking like $5 million so it should double the gross with 1,500-2,000 extra theatres or so)
The Green Inferno $5 million
Pawn Sacrifice (expanding wide despite a weak opening Wednesday) $1 million

As a parent of 2, and with the drought of kid friendly movies lately and the positive reception of the trailer everywhere (the film is also being heavily featured on the Disney channel) on top of the first movie having been well received, I expect it to do very well.

Cant wait to take the kids to see it personally (possibly twice if good).

Plus, it's being released just before October starts, so it's a kid-friendly monster outing at just the right time. And it's been a while since the last big CG animated flick release (Minions three months ago...? ). And easy 50+ million for that.

I'm rooting for The Green Inferno, but Hotel Transylvania will undoubtedly top the box office.

Mark me down as another parent who has been waiting for a new kid's movie to go to. The first Hotel Transylvania was enjoyable, I'm expecting a packed theater this weekend

1. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 - 35 MILLION (New)
2. EVEREST - 22 MILLION
3. THE INTERN - 15 MILLION
(New)
4. MAZE RUNNER 2 - 14.86 MILLION (-51%)
5. BLACK MASS - 13.175 MILLION (-50%)
6. THE VISIT - 5.9 MILLION (-49%)
7. THE GREEN INFERNO - 5 MILLION (New)
8. WAR ROOM - 4.7 MILLION (-24%)
9. THE PERFECT GUY - 4.29 MILLION (-56%)

I'm sure A WALK IN THE WOODS won't actually be #10. It will probably be PAWN SACRIFICE. Maybe even SICARIO.

I don't understand why HT2 wasn't out in theaters at all last night. I was totally planning to see it early, and I rarely do that these days.

Maybe because of kids have school in the morning and they probably expected a low turnout or something.

Possible, but these days, for the Thursday evening showtimes, they usually have an early 7pm screening for most new releases, especially for animated/family movies. With a runtime of just 90 or so minutes, they could've added the one showtime. Kids can still be in bed at a reasonable time. Either way, I'm gonna try seeing this later today.

Rotten Tomatoes Scores as of Saturday 9/26:

Hotel Transylvania 2: 45% (44 reviews: 24 rotten, 20 fresh)
The Green Inferno: 38% (45 reviews: 28 rotten, 17 fresh)
The Intern: 55% (94 reviews: 42 rotten, 52 fresh)
Everest: 73% (175 reviews: 47 rotten, 128 fresh)

Out of the three new films this week (not counting Everest), Hotel Transylvania will probably be the most popular, followed by The Intern, then The Green Inferno.
