Not a stand alone:
http://www.bose.ca/controller?url=/s...tems/index.jsp It seems you've got to buy their whole system. I haven't heard Bose other than their headphones, which were lacking, so can't comment on how their systems are. I have seen a lot of negativity on various forums though. Ymmv. |

I highly advise against purchasing Bose for home theaters. There are far better offerings from Polk, Samsung, Yamaha, Sony, etc for far cheaper. I can personally vouch for Yamaha receivers, as I've had the same one for six years and it's still running strong (the RX-V663).

If you believe the Bose systems are that great, see if the store will put another brand's speakers next to theirs for a direct comparison and then judge how well it performs. If you can find a store that will do it, you will be shocked at how much better other less expensive brands are. |

Here is the thing with Bose. Yes, you will get decent sound from their systems. However, it will not provide you with a true full spectrum audio experience... at least not consistently... in fact rarely. But, to an untrained ear it will definitely sound good because they tend to overemphasize the high ends and low ends. For some reason, the average uninformed person seems to think that more bass and treble instantly means better. But, when the entire NORMAL spectrum of sound can practically be all but missing, it doesn't really offer what people think they are getting. So, with all of that in mind, you can start to see that Bose mostly makes money off of their name because they spend way too much money getting their name out there compared to their competitors. In doing so, they have to cut production costs and offer a lesser quality product than their competitors. Finally, they skew the sound output to fool the consumer into thinking that they offer more than their competitors when they are actually offering less. Save some money and avoid Bose. There is way more value to be had from purchasing numerous other brands on the market. As has already been mentioned though, you should try and find someway to compare the systems with others on the market. THAT is the true test to discover what you will like best. Good luck finding places that sell Bose side-by-side with other brands. Bose wouldn't want their products in that type of environment because the ability to have immediate and convenient comparisons with their products would likely put them right out of business. But... ultimately we can't force you to do anything. If Bose is what you really want, then Bose should be what you get. ![]() |

I think the bigger issue is that you can buy 5 speakers from wave crest audio, a subwoofer from Hsu and a receiver if your choice for a grand or less, and get much better sound, more features, for less money. But hey, advertising works! |

OP,
The Bose control consoles(ie receivers) are like that of a htib variety, the console connects via proprietary connectors. They do not use binding posts like most speakers would connect to on a regular ht receiver. Hope that's more helpful to answering your question. |

Dude, send me $4,000 and I'll stick some Bose logos on a nice Denon receiver. You'll love it.
![]() I must give credit where credit is due. Cost aside, Bose does make some nice minimalistic equipment. Their secret sauce is in EQing and processing the sound within an inch of its life. That is why you find them in all-in-one packages and also in venues like churches with SIGNIFICANT sound processing. But its a package deal. Dollar for dollar, you will get better results elsewhere. Bose: "Better sound through marketing" "No highs, no lows, must be Bose" hehehe Last edited by Dreamliner330; 01-06-2015 at 04:19 AM. |
