I only mentioned this one a couple of days ago, can't believe it's actually coming. Tremendous film.

Good film.

Good grief, we're getting July announcements already.
Makes me all the more disappointed that Kino doesn't have Who'll Stop The Rain, Eye Of The Needle, and some others from the same era.

I had this and River's Edge on my watchlist for years because of Ebert's reviews (I have a 1987 edition of his home movie guide that I flip through frequently for recs of stuff that's largely forgotten today). Now Kino is releasing both of them! I sure didn't like River's Edge, but I'll still give this one a shot, it doesn't seem to be comparable in any way other than subject matter and great reviews from Ebert!

Not familiar with this one, but given the cast I'll probably go ahead and order.

I will blind buy this one. I bought the old Anchor Bay DVD of The Black Marble also from the same director and I enjoyed that one a lot.

Having seen this a few times over the years, I can say that it is an accomplished piece of seventies cinema, but I don't think it makes a very good blind buy.

At the same time, it's tough to recommend reading up on it too much either because it really is a tale of two halves, like the poster suggests, and most reviews completely spoil the first half.

Just know that it's a complicated story that challenges the audience deliberately and doesn't allow for very satisfying resolutions to the problems it sets up.
