Default Honest Non biased Game Reviewer...Help

In light of the recent scandal at Gamespot.com I am left without a site to find out how the newest games hold up. I have been weary of Gamespot for quite some time now and with the firing of Jeff Gerstmann because of the bad review he gave to a crappy game I now will no longer even go to this site.

So a quick question... What is a honest non-biased site that is similar to gamespot but without the intrusion of outside game publishers? Where is a honest site???

I tend to visit www.gamerankings.com they give you a variety of reviews from multiple websites and you can usually tell which sites r bias due to some of the odd scores certain games get. For example, if a new ps3 game gets reviewed by 20 websites and say 18 or 19 sites gives it around 8.5 to 9.5 out of 10 and 1 site gives it a 5 or 6, thats usually a good sign that that site is xbox360 bias.

I used to be a paying member of Gamespot and it was my start page, that was over a year ago before the PS3 came out. I own all the consoles and just want uniform coverage, it was clear already back then that they were getting biased. I left and never went back. For me to see those news today is quite funny in that it is no surprise.

To answer your question, for reviews I would recommend to visit Metacritic or Gamerankings. I know Gamerankings belong to the CNET family but they list all the other sites so you can get a general idea and go to any review sites from there, you can read low and high scored reviews and have a better idea. I use it to decide if I should skip\wait for demo\rent\buy.

If you want one Gamespot-like site, I kind of like IGN, of all the games I played on the current gen consoles, I agree with their reviews the most. Of course, there are always instances when one review will seem a little off and sometime they are but also sometimes us as gamers, we are biased just because we like a game style or franchise

There isn't one.

I suggest either the getting a slice from everyone, or just looking for a site that shares your own bias and go with them.

You can use the search forum feature to see if there is a thread on the game you are interested in here. Read what people have to say and ask questions. If you don't find a thread for the game that interests you then start one. Some games get 100's of posts.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I believe GameRankings.com is also owned by C|Net, the same parent company as GameSpot.

Metacritic.com does much the same function, and isn't affiliated with them, however.

Believe it or not, I use Wikipedia, the extremely biased website. But i check the reception. It lists what people did, and did not like about the game. And usually list scroes given by websites and game magazines on the side.

www.gamerevolution.com

They're a small company so sometimes the reviews tend to be a little late. But I have been using them for ages and their reviews always are on target. Sometimes, recently, I get a slight sense that they are PS3 biased, but thats just me.

You can always use www.gamerankings.com Even if they are owned by cnet they list all the other websites with direct links so it would be hard to fudge those numbers. You get a sweet average with them

wow. i can beleive how much people hate gamespot now with Jeff being gone... whatever!
I started to quit going there after reading the LAIR review before playing the game. After playing Lair i just... The game was freaking awsome to say the least.

I hate reviewers. they can die, burn in hell, then die again in hell... give lair a 4... lmao.

Anyway, yeah. just go rent games before buying them if you want an idea of how they play. OR if you really want - just trust "Poeple". not "Professional Reviewer People" that under/over - rate games JUST because of their console/developer/publisher/etc.

Gamespot continually blows more and more every day. with some EXTREME fanboyism to the 360, to terrible reviews, to a community filled with kids ages 08-12, you dont get much worse then gamespot.

For game related NEWS- IGN
For Publisher related NEWS - Gamespot.

thats it. the rest is up to you. go down to blockbuster.

If you'd like all negitive things about MGS, Splinter cell, etc - check out encyclopediadramatica.org.
its like wikipedia, but for ...smarter people.

xD lmao
