CHARLIE'S ANGELS sees Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu star as the captivating crime-fighting trio who are masters of disguise, espionage and martial arts. When a devious mastermind embroils them in a plot to destroy individual privacy, the Angels, aided by their loyal sidekick Bosley (Bill Murray), set out to bring down the bad guys. But when a terrible secret is revealed, it makes the Angels targets for assassination.

In CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE, the "Angels", three investigative agents (Barrymore, Diaz and Liu) who work for the Charles Townsend Detective Agency, return for another high-octane series of adventures as they investigate the theft of a database of witness protection profiles, after five of the people on the list are murdered. They're aided by a new Bosley (Bernie Mac), in an adventure which pits them against a "fallen angel" (Moore), their old nemesis, the Thin Man (Glover), and others.

Yeah, especially as the sequel has both Demi Moore and the Jaclyn Smith cameo.

Hopefully, they are saving the 2003 film for the video release of the new film next year.

I *think* Full Throttle was one of the first test BD50's to be pressed and yeah, it's never been released on Blu in the US (although as I bought the euro Sony disc years ago I'll be passing on this).

I have no interest in upgrading the first movie to 4K, and I already have the German release of the sequel, but thanks anyway Sony.

This makes absolutely ZERO sense not to release this on 4K along with the first movie. FYI this release has been a debacle since the inception of blu ray seeing that this was one of the original speculated releases from the infancy of the format and it mysteriously was never released. I imported the German edition...NO 4K=PASS

I'm annoyed and confused as to why we are getting a 4K for the first film but not the second, and I doubt we'll see Full Throttle on 4K when the remake gets a home video release.

That being said, these films are a nostalgic guilty pleasure for me so I'll probably upgrade the original and pick up Full Throttle.

Definitely dumb to not have released this on 4K as well, but I saw it coming because it took all this time to finally get a BD release... I wouldn't think they'd skip a format entirely and go right to 4K, even if a BD set came out the same day. For new releases, sure, but not catalog titles. I held off getting the first on BD because the 2nd never got released and then waited so long to get an international release that I forgot about it, so I'll get this one and the other on 4K and then if FT ever gets a 4K, I'll get that too.

From what I remember, I enjoyed Full Throttle more than the first, so hopefully by April-Juneish when the new one comes out on home video, somebody at Sony will wise up and get it out on 4K.

I didn't see a contact section on Sony's website so the best advice I can give to anybody who wants this on 4K is to try reaching out to Sony HE on their social media and let them know you want it.

The first is a guilty pleasure, but the second is quite bad. I would've spent a little more for a 2-Movie 4K Steelbook, ala Bad Boys, but I'll probably pass on the BD of the sequel, with Sony's lack of effort.

Quite happy with my unrated Japanese disc, (which I'm pretty sure mirrors the disc released elsewhere in 2013), so it's UHD or bust, I'm afraid.

I adore this film, btw. It has the right balance of funny/stupid.

The first one just didn't connect in the same way, for me.

Anyway, I've compared the US disc with the older Sony International release:



For all intents and purposes, they look identical...





Phone pics, obviously...

However, the newer disc looked a bit 'fresher', for lack of a better term. It's something that I cannot quantify properly, because I've looked at them back and forth and side by side, and each frame looks identical. Identical.

But in motion, it just seems tighter and I can't explain it outside of one encoding being recent, and the other having being done years ago.

Would like to see how this compares to German release once released as that was region free and many like myself imported.

PQ/AQ I bet is the same or similar unless they did a remaster in prep for a 4K release as well but then why not release both in 4K so I think its just a re-use of existing pressing or master.
