Germany Lichtmond 1, 2, 3 & The Journey (2010/2012/2014/2016) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free]

Surprised no one has posted this yet. Just got done watching it and enjoyed it much. It's one of them soundscape kinda movies with strange backgrounds and objects floating around. The 3D was pretty good, some ghosting but was still cool. Language is German but all the music is mostly in English and was good also. Never thought I'd be into such a thing, but this was great

Its also worth mentioning that it is Region Free (or at least Region A and B - those are the only two I could test).

I thought this was referring to a concert or MTV compilation of a band Licthmond but I may be wrong.

Its just simply music with abstract scenery and objects flying around in 3D.

Default Lichtmond 3 Days of Eternity....region A?

Was thinking about picking up the Lichtmond 3d blu rays for the reported excellent audio/video/3d and noticed both 1 and 2 are region A/B/C, but cant find anything that says if part 3 is also region A compatible (just says region B on Amazon, but that might be wrong). Anyone know if part 3 is region A?

Hi there... Happily I can confirm that Lichtmond 3 is region A compatible (just slipped it in my PS4 to double-check, but it also plays fine on my region-free BD player when it's set to "A"). I'm surprised this series hasn't popped up in discussion more often on these boards, as the 3D CGI work in all three is rather stunning. In small doses they're demo material, although in my humble opinion, longer viewing sessions are substantially more enjoyable if you've had some alcohol or CA "medicine" (sometimes watching these things feels like watching Pink Floyd album covers or Dali paintings come to life with a new-age dance soundtrack... and the occasional German voice-overs are unintentionally hilarious). Anyway, if you're a 3D fanatic like me, these are well worth importing from Amazon.de, and they'll work fine in your region A player. Enjoy! :-)

Thank You for the confirmation and that is great news! I have part 1 on the way, but I am sure I will grab 2 and 3 as well due to all the great reports on both the A/V and 3d.

Sounds like you enjoyed all three, but do you have a favorite out of curiosity? Are they all also on a similar level as far as sound quality/mix?

Honestly they're all kind of samey with their new age silliness and entertaining 3D visuals (is that a cat riding a boat across the sky?), and the tech specs on all three are excellent (because Germans), but I'm partial to 1 & 3. I did the same thing as you, and ordered #1 first - followed by the other two when Amazon.de featured them in one of their frequent sales. So I like the first one because it introduced me to the series and was like nothing else I'd seen... and Midge Ure (of Ultravox & "Do They Know It's Christmas?" fame) pops up to sing a song on #3, so I like the nostalgia factor there. Alan Parsons makes an appearance on #2, though, so that one also has star power. Interestingly, the liner notes in all three are in English. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once you get to check out #1!

Very cool! Glad I grabbed part 1 now reading that. I will be sure to report back when I get it which hopefully will be late next week. Looking forward to firing this up on the big screen in the HT.

Personally, I found the second to the best of the three perhaps due in part because I'm a fan of Alan Parsons. I rank them 2, 3, and then 1. Parts 2 and 3 are easily demo material. Days of Eternity, Pt 3, which I just watched, looked stunning on my XBR-75X940C and the English 5.1 DTS-HD MA track featured the best out of the three with imaging and panning of the score.

Translated by Google:

A sensory journey into Fantastic Worlds - The special musical experience The new LICHTMOND released on October 14, 2016 exclusively at Electrola / Universal Music

The speed of life carried on the waves of countless feelings, unaware of everything is what, knowing what was

Life as a unique journey through evolution and transformation never been so intense, varied and exciting - is exactly what makes us the fourth LICHTMOND-production "The Journey" of the successful producer Giorgio and Martin Koppehele at close quarters.

Part surrealistic, partly realistically we see all the elements of this new symbolic LICHTMOND World, which tells the emergence, converting and passing complex in a song accompanied history.

With the main character, the "Live-Giver" we fly in a beautiful landscape and experience how the "Magic Tree" very quickly the seasons change and how breathtakingly fast elapses one year. Plants and objects are brought to life.

A pyramid is the symbol of the small in the large - a little magical object in the hand of the "Life Giver" to a big spaceship. Transcendent stairs into the sky in an architecture that is in the clouds.

Superb sound universe

Unmistakable and yet always new is the unique LICHTMOND sound and song world which adds both dramaturgical perfect visual story power, intensity and emotionality. The magic LICHTMOND Triangle of electronics, ethno and rock songs, great voices and poignant poetry is always fascinating.

A special song Highlight this time the grandiose cover of instrumental classic by Robert Miles, "CHILDREN". Giorgio and Martin created a beautiful version with the unmistakable vocals of LICHTMOND artist Meera Fé that appear parallel to the publication as a radio single. Another highlight is the renewed cooperation with the Corsican vocal acrobats of I MUVRINI and Karen Kassulat on the song "True destination".

Together with their wives Suna (melodies and English texts) and Gabi (poems) created Giorgio and Martin many more musical tone beads with LICHTMOND artists Meera Fé (vocals, piano), Saskia Phillips (vocals) and Thomas E. Killinger (poems, Piano).

Galactic high-tech spheres

Of course LICHTMOND "The Journey" again has some features which the producer ausreizen is technically feasible to make an even more brilliant listening and viewing experience possible.

Dolby Atmos

"We are very pleased that the new LICHTMOND" The Journey "Blu-ray also a discrete DOLBY includes time in addition to our 2.0, 5.1 and 7.1 mixes ATMOS mixture. The object-based, three-dimensional ATMOS mixture with additional speakers on the ceiling attracts the listener much more emotional and in our world of sound. "Said Giorgio and Martin Koppehele. "The LICHTMOND DOLBY ATMOS mixtures were mixed by Chris Heil in the Munich MSM Studios, offer specially in music unimagined possibilities and a unique, new listening experience."

4K UHD Blu-ray

"In our 3 Disc Special Edition has its own 4K UHD Blu-ray bonus disc. This 4K UHD Bluray contains specially rendered in 4K UHD highlights of our recent LICHTMOND productions. (UHD Encoding of Silicon Philosophies, Miguel Clarke) We are very happy that the LICHTMOND imagery in this high UHD resolution can be enjoyed with the finest details with particular intensity. "

The Spanish Visual Artist Team of Imago-D Studios (Diego M. Bonati and Javier Sáenz-Messia) has exceeded "The Journey" itself: In addition to a fantastic, immersive 3D experience that can be enjoyed in 2D, were this time individual objects even applied in 8K resolution, resulting in a unique viewing experience

So they used the superior Auro 3D until they figured Atmos might sell better?
