Cool. Not one I'd pick up day one but somewhere down the line for sure.

Glad a reliable distributor has this one (though I'm still waiting for my copy of The Rover to be dispatched...wonder if that's a warehouse problem or just Zavvi).

Do you really need to ask that question?

Great film, but I can't imagine it has any replay value. Carrell and Ruffalo were amazing though. Brilliant performances.

Here, Here!!! Hopefully it will be out earlier in the states and not region locked.

I thought that it was actually Tatum that was the stand out performance in the film, sometimes it takes a very muted and personal performance to counteract the big showy performance that some actors give (Carell).

Is this a good blind buy? What movies would you say are similar in plot and style or is this unique? (Hollywood make unique anymore?)

If you haven't seen it, I would try Bennett Miller's first feature film Capote. It's closest in tone to that, but his second film was Moneyball. They're all quite melodrama-meets-melancholia, and distinctively of his style. Not sure it's worth blind-buying unless you know and like his previous films.

Thanks. Moneyball couldn't have bored me more, serious, slow yawnfest.
I was hoping this was like Rocky type sports movie, good solid story enjoyable, no real hope then an intense training before tournament to music, ending with an uplifting against the odds victory.

This is nothing like that. More a mediation on obsession, false ambition, masculinity, competition, and the 'American dream'. Seemingly deep at points, but decidedly one-note...

Dammit, still sounds like I'm describing Rocky!

Moneyball is stunning - serious yet hilarious and very very tense. If Foxcatcher is even half as good I'll be a very happy camper.

Not really, caught the odd part on TV. I've seen trailers that have made films look like they're the best movie of the year to find that the trailer showed the best/funniest/scariest etc bits, the film as a whole -rubbish.

I know it's a true story and has great actors, it's a highly regarded movie. Thinking of blind buying, but wanted to know what to compare to. The bits I've seen of the trailer makes it look action packed, deep and fast paced. The replies here don't fully support that thought.

Thought on a blu Ray movie forum it was a fair question to ask?

I don't think it looks like that from the trailers. Maybe it's because I watch a lot of trailers but I can tell when the editors try to make a slow-paced film look action-packed. This and other drama's trailers are cut like thrillers but the actual scenes being used don't match the intensity of the music.

The new cover art is truly abysmal, it's like the film is one of those awful straight to DVD thrillers you'd see Bruce Willis try and do. Not an Oscar nominated psychological drama.
