I recently purchased all three seasons of Star Trek TOS (the SD original version, not the remastered version) as part of the Star Trek sale on Fandango at Home. S1 E1 has an entire audio effects track missing.
There's no WHOOSH when the Enterprise flies by in the opening credits. There's no scream before Kirk rushes out of the hut. There are no phaser sounds. When Kirk shoots a piece of the ruins on the planet and it explodes and falls, it is completely silent. When McCoy shoots the salt monster it's silent. I haven't played any other episodes all the way through yet, but I played the opening credits on a few more and the WHOOSH is also missing from E3, so I'm thinking that one might be missing other audio effects as well. So far so good on the others, but I wonder how many other defects there are in the rest of the series. I reported the issues to FAH, but seeing as how Paramount seem happy to let the original version of TOS disappear as they push the remastered version everywhere, I have no hopes that they'll correct the digital version of the original. I'm still waiting to hear back. |

Your post made me check and you are correct. On amazon Prime the sound is correct. Weird.
I contacted FAH but based on past experience they will not reply. Last edited by stvn1974; 09-11-2025 at 10:26 PM. |
