Wagner: Die Walküre (2016)

Müpa Budapest released Richard Wagner's Die Walküre from the 2016 Budapest Wagner Days series, on 4 July 2017.

I ordered a copy of this from the only source I could find, a very barebones listing here at a shop called lira.hu. Now, this shop is only in Hungarian, but if you use Google Translate, you should be able to order internationally with a credit card. You will then receive an order conformation e-mail in Hungarian, after which I received no follow up e-mails, in spite of the order seemingly claimed as not shipped. However, I ordered on the 3rd of November and I received my (sealed) copy on the 26th of November, well bubble-wrapped in a plain white mailer. One caveat is that shipping cost is actually more than the item cost at 8000 HUF (US $26), but you might be able to save by buying more than one item.

Anyway, I can now confirm that the Die Walküre Blu-ray does exist, with the same jacket art as the DVD resized to Blu-ray size and packaged in a standard blue amaray case. Unlike the DVD (listed here, I think), which is apparently 3 discs, the Blu-ray is one 50GB disc with the whole performance. The listing on lira.hu seems to say that the disc came out on 4 July 2017, and the files on the disc were authored in May 2017, so that seems correct.

There is no picture of the Blu-ray online anywhere. There was an EAN code affixed to the shrink wrap on my copy, but it isn't found online, either. Unfortunately, this Die Walküre seems to be the only Blu-ray issued by Müpa Budapest, although they seem to have other operas on DVD only. Note that since the Blu-ray is 1080/50i, I assume that the DVD versions are PAL format and not NTSC as with most classical music DVDs.

Here are some links to the other operas offered (I believe) on DVD only at lira.hu. Because they also have no product codes or pictures of the products, I can only go by the fact that they are listed as being from Müpa, so it may be worth double checking with Müpa before placing an order:

Here is an article from Müpa in English about the recent Tannhäuser DVD. It contains a picture of all three Wagner opera releases together, so perhaps these are their only titles.
