Default Ultraviolet on one service but not another?

Has anyone seen what happens when you purchase a movie on, say, MGO that isn't ultraviolet but it is on Vudu?

Why aren't these things uniform across the board?

Yep it happens a lot. I bought Silent Night/Deadly Night double feature from Target Ticket and for almost a year, I couldn't watch it in Vudu. It was UV everywhere else until Vudu added UV compatibility recently.

There is also the issue of a UV movie being only on one service: Bend It Like Beckham is only on Vudu, nowhere else.

And then there is the other issue of being saddled with SD because the service you want to use doesn't offer HD. Oooh, and then the aspect ratio problems too.

UV is a beautiful mess, it offers what we need but at the same time keeps us from enjoying what we love. Disney Movies Anywhere is a much better system but such a strong walled garden.

I noticed that the Anchor Bay movies are UV on Vudu, but not on MGo.

No Lionsgate titles are UV on M-GO either.

And this is another reason why UV annoys me. I support the format as you can see with my collection but haveing 23940809347980573245 vendors when nothing requires them to support all UV titles means nothing. Its a cluster**** and doesn't ever seem to get better. If apple had a d2d program it would have been game over for UV but that will never happen as the only reason studios agreed to do it for UV is to try to make sure Apple doesn't control movies the way it controls music.

Do most people go from provider to provider comparing their movies? Maybe I'm the lone person who sees no reason to, so it all just works fine for me. When something better than Vudu comes along (competition) I'll check them out.
