Default Primal Carnage: Extinction

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/...ps4-next-year/

Primal Carnage: Genesis, the project with single player has now been put on hold, to let Circle 5 studio release Primal Carnage: Extinction, a pure online multiplayer shooter (Deathmatch style or Objective based), which in terms of scope is much easier to deal with for a small studio.

Release: Q1 2015.

Weirdly enough the trailer looks like PS3 footage, whereas the screenshots look more like current gen indie (and I'm not just talking about Supersampling).

PS: Apparently the trailer is at least a year and a half old, and was for the then projected Genesis (with early alpha code).

Also to note: Extinction is coming next month on Steam, so it'll give us an idea of how good the game actually is.

Here are the specs of the game that'll show up on Steam (they have 6 months of additional content planned, so no idea if the PS4 versions will have different content at launch but one would hope):

- 12 maps
- 2 Game modes (Deathmatch / Get to the Chopper)
- Dino gameplay (9 types or "classes", incuding Flyer, Sneaking and blinding)
- Human gameplay (5 classes with varying equipment)

Wow, color me disappointed. When my eyes first caught sight of this thread, I saw the Primal ...age and Primal Rage popped into my mind. I loved those old stop-motion fighting games!

Interesting. I have Primal Rage the fighting game (which I think was available on the Sega Genesis and PS collections), but this is something else entirely, but still with Dinosaurs, this being Primal Carnage.

This game is tons of fun.

It's COD/Jurassic Park. Controlling a Raptor is awesome. I've died many times attacking humans so the balance is there. The graphics are great. Being on the human side is fun & a bit scary too.

Enjoyed it on PC but not sure if it is worth getting on PS4. Smaller digital shooters like this always seem to end up completely dead on consoles in the blink of an eye. Especially this close to games like Battlefront and COD.

Sounds good. How large are the maps to explore? I'll have to take a look.

I tried 2-3 courses.

They are adequate for this type game IMO.

Corner to corner with a Raptor at full speed will take you around 15 seconds. It took me awhile to hunt down some humans. Some are sneaky & hide inside logs. I jump onto the log they are in a claw away.. You can at least do that with smaller Dino's.

You can play SP. (with nothing to do lol)

You have to host your own game & choose free roam. In this mode you can change into any human, Dino & course to explore alone & get used to controls since each Dino is different & humans are with regard to weapons.
