wow, this news makes me happy.
I have been wanting to see this film for so long and I decided to wait for the blu once I heard it was supposedly coming, but it's been a long wait for sure.

I'm glad I first watched this title in an Ealing Studios Films block on TCM several months back. Hopefully it'll be Region A/B. If not it won't matter eventually.
Loved this film and also The Ladykillers. Did Ealing produce Kind Hearts and Coronets?

YES! Too bad it won't have any extras from The Criterion Collection DVD. OR I could do a custom job and have the UK Blu-ray as the third disc?
I really ought to get the computer I'm building completed. Then bring on the Region B Blus! Which other Alec Guiness films are Ealing Studios Productions? The Ladykillers was one, correct?
Damn I love importing. But only caveat are the Amaray cases which have wider spines compared to the ones here. Doesn't matter since I certainly do love film.

EDIT: A bit off-topic but I noticed in your collection you own the ITV DVD for The Shawshank Redemption. Now I was going to import the 3-Disc DVD so I could put the third disc as a bonus feature disc with the WB Digibook I own. Or should I just buy the ITV Blu-ray? Damn nice collection too huntauk!

The Ladykillers was Guinness though many people think its Alastair Sim! He also appeared in A Run For Your Money and The Man In The White Suit for Ealing. The former is quite amusing with Guinness in a supporting role but the latter is one of the very best British comedies, directed by Alexander Mackendrick of Whisky Galore, The Ladykillers and The Sweet Smell Of Success, its a razor sharp attack on capital, labour and scientific responsibility. Keep your eye out for a young and gorgeous Audrey Hepburn in The Lavender Hill Mob

The ITV DVD release has a third disc exclusive to the set and I figure with the USA Blu-ray I own, might as well make it a 2-Disc custom job.
But let's go back on topic.

EDIT: I don't care if this is Region B, I'm still importing it.

I don't have my Criterion copy in front of me, but I think all of the special features were located on Disc two of the set, and the videos aren't specific to the film).

So I'd say just get a two disc blu-ray case and put the new blu and disc 2 of the criterion release inside.

How long do you think before they bring out an Ealing Boxset?

I thought that but then thought what if those fantastic individual covers are slipcovers? Does anyone know if they will be slipcovers?

Just been to see it at the cinema (limited release).

They've done a superb job on the restoration.

It's a must buy
