"The initial slate will [be] followed by a “growing roster of titles including new release film and television content.”

... oh man, if they drop BREAKING BAD to UHD-BR they can charge me as much as they want.

I just want a release date for the player. I could have all the 4K movies in the world, but without a 4K player they're useless.

I have a feeling Japan will see a full launch in the next few weeks. At least that way the BDA can say they met their target of holiday 2015.

Reading the initial batch, I'm really shocked by the absence of "Paul Blart: Mall Cop"...

48fps wasn't I thought, and Warner/New line have not committed to it.
Plus they are 2k movies in 3d, on a 4k no 3d format

No, because actually that 3 HFR motion picture milestone was surpassed in early 2014 after a heads-up to a non-Peter Jackson HFR motion picture back in 2013….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ps#post7314494 (3D done by the person who, for four years, chaired the ad hoc group for SMPTE ST428-11-2009 "Additional Frame Rates for D-Cinema" defining the frame rates of 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps)

And, come to think of it, I believe that either while or shortly after attending IBC 2014 in Amsterdam (my wife and I like Amsterdam ), a heads-up was given to the movie still being exhibited at the renowned Eye film institute of the Netherlands….though I must go back and check on that when I have more time.

Cameron hasn't decided yet. Don't be surprised if none of the Avatar sequels are HFR, a certain studio already shot down a film, from last year, that was shot in HFR but not released theatrically in HFR, and told the director not to mention it was shot that way, due to the poor feedback from the Hobbit theatrical releases.

You thought right , especially if you were astute enough to follow cutting-edge postings ( https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...48#post9686716 , more time for elaboration on 48 in the last paragraph of a follow-up to singhcr - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...hz#post9732007 )

Which, checking the dates, were posted ^ long before any liaison communications between standards organizations were made public, e.g.

or, for that matter, any wikileaks Sony documents were dumped online, or thee official specs were listed by the BDA in a July 2015 white paper.

X-Men DOFP, by any chance?

Cameron told Empire last year that it "made sense" to plug in to the existing 48fps system rather than plough another furrow with 60fps, it'd just complicate things further at this point. Speaking of which, he also said he wants to use it as a variable system and not straight HFR all the way through because even he realises that HFR can make things look too "real".

I did read that in empire now that you mention it, but that was before the movies were put back again tho right?

Cameron still hadn't finished writing them even then so I don't think the delay will change the cinematic landscape too much re: adoption of HFR, if that's what you're referring to. (I had to laugh when they asked him what he'd do if he had a time machine, Terminator style, he said he'd go forward in time and buy the Blu-rays of the new Avatar movies so he'd know what to write )
