What films did you initially dislike or were disappointed by, but upon subsequent viewings began to love.
I can think of a few titles. The first one that always comes to mind for me is a popular Coen Bros. film. I hated The Big Lebowski upon first viewing (surprisingly enough) but caught it again about a year after it's initial release at home and I instantly wondered what I had missed the first time around. It is one of my all-time favorite films and is right near the top of Coen Bros. titles. ![]() The second film that comes to mind is the David Mamet picture, The Spanish Prisoner. It was such a bore the first time around but I caught it about 10 years ago on HDNet and I was absorbed with the plot and dialogue. I only wish it was available on Blu-Ray. ![]() |

I didn't find it disappointing but I didn't like it when I first watched it (its release was around the time I was tired of hearing about WW2 stuff since I was in school and that was all they taught in History) and upon a repeating viewing I ended up loving it.
![]() This is actually rather hard for me think of... I have very open taste and I'm not easy to disappoint and even harder to get to change my mind. At some point I'm going to rewatch L'avventura to see if that is another one of the films I dislike the first time then liked upon a rewatch. |

It's very rare for me to watch something again after I was disappointed the first time because there is just too many other films I haven't seen yet, to be wasting my time on something I didn't care for initially, but I do have a few.
No Country For Old Men - Still not a big fan of the Coens, but I was blown away by it the second time, where as I didn't see the appeal at all the first. It was probably a good six years between viewings. End of Watch - Wouldn't have watched it again if I didn't have to watch it for a class. It's not that I didn't like it the first time, just thought it was just okay. But thought it was great the second go around. |

I was the same way with No Country. I liked it but didn't understand the hype. After a few viewings I have grown to really love this film. My rating upon release 6/10- My rating now 8/10

I saw The Big Lebowski during its original theatrical release. Found it a bit underwhelming and a bit random. When I watch it now I just love how it all unfolds and find the characters to be perfectly distilled and hilarious.
