Default Which TV should I buy (TWO CHOICES)?

Option 1 (50" 1080p)

Option 2 (50" 4KTV)

PLEASE help me out as I will decide by tonight.

I will mainly use the TV to watch regular blu-rays and sports on TV.

I want the best picture available. The room the TV is going to be in is small so the TV will have a small distance viewing (sounds weird how I word it, but you know what I mean).

I may eventually get a 4K bluray player (dying to watch Revenant on 4K), but I don't believe the Vizio has HDR, so is it even worth it for 4k Blus?

Please help me out, thank you.

PS: This is the last thread I make about this, promise! Decision tonight

PS #2: I know the 4K TV isn't top of the line, but it gets pretty good reviews. I love that it has 5 HDMI ports (the other one has 3), but what worries me is the fact that it doesn't have HDR, and most importantly I'm worried blu-rays and regular 1080i cable TV will look WORSE on it. I'm not sure if I'm correct on that, but since the viewing distance will be small, won't 720p and 1080p content look worse on the 4k compared to the 1080p TV? I've heard multiple opinions on this, some say worse, some say same, and some say a lot better.

Tough decide...

-Board-cast satellite was 1080i and some 1080p. If you want 4K high pay month every.

-PS4 original or slim are 1080p
-Your collection Bluray movies are 1080p
-UHD player converter downscale to 1080p look nice picture.

Your chose up.

So it will look exactly the same on the 4KTV, even when sitting up close?

+1 for 4k. Price difference doesn't seem so bad and you get 4k.

Look good. Future-proofed!

But 10bit 4:2:0 4K and not have HDR. Nice 120Hz.

Next year, 12bit 4:4:4 real colour richest 4K and HDR...you'll

I'll planning..

Continue saving and get an "m" series. For 799 you get hdr10 and also dolby vision. Worth it big time.

Does it make 1080p look better? I've heard the HDR isn't that great on that TV.

$800 is a lot to be honest, especially since I have no 4K player. Nearly $500 more than the 1080p one. I have no doubt it's better though

My Sony HDTV 46" 120Hz 1080p was 10 years old. I remembered paid $2,000 Wow expensive.
UHD mini player HDR converter and downscale 1080p look great picture.

I'm happy.

Hdr even on lower models is a nice difference over any SDR. It's a visual treat. Once you start watching shows in hdr you will want more. It's an overall better tv than the D series, so I would expect 1080p to be better. The extra $200 gives you a lot other future proofing.

Even without having a 4k player, there's a decent amount of hdr10/DolbyVision on Netflix and amazon prime.

I just need one while I'm at school, in a couple years I think these things will be a lot better. Right now it seems like unless you get the $1300+ ones, they're all lacking somewhere. That's why I'm looking for something cheap.

Couple of questions though, does HDR enhance 4K blurays? So will 4K blurays look great on this Vizio but amazing on a better TV, or is it all kind of amazing?

But I mean any 4K content will look great, right (even without HDR)? I'm not looking to be amazed right now, one day I'll save up and get like an 80" 8K TV or whatever right now just trying to get the best possible image on a budget.

Yep, the HDR makes the 4k blu rays look better, much better. When the vizio P series owners finally got their hdr10 update 2 months ago, they re-watched their 4k blu rays and couldn't believe how much better they looked. 4k blu rays are intended to be watched with the hdr being read.

Does it also enhance regular blu-rays, or just 4K blurays?

And what do you think of the LG I linked above?

I was 99% sure about the 4K Vizio then you posted

Ive owned 3 hdr tvs now, I would spend the extra $$ for hdr if possible .

The above poster does not own a 4k tv so he only knows 1 side of the issue.
