Like The Sting I'll get rid of my HD DVD when I can see that Universal hasn't pulled another DNR fiasco.

Smokey and the Bandit II was just as popular as the original, so I hope Universal will eventually release that one as well. I highly doubt part 3 will ever make it.

A guilty pleasure from my youth. I imported the UK edition several months ago.

Which is why I was hoping, beyond hope, that Uni would release the "Pursuit Pack" trilogy, like the dvd.
Oh well, I'm happy for this one...and will gladly sacrifice never getting Part 3 for, hopefully, getting Part 2.

Too little Too Late. What is it that US studios don't understand about not releasing US catalog titles in the US in a timely manner and instead letting them be released region free in other countries for much less money. Got mine from the UK region free for like 15 bucks shipped to the US. Cleopatra looks to be the next title to have this happen. Ohh well.

Thanks,
T

This is Universal we are talking about. They tend to drop the ball on a regular basis.

Well seeing as the UK release was barebones and the US has all the extras from the dvd ported over...already I like this release much better!
I'm sure the PQ/AQ, at the minimum will be the same copy used for the UK version(same as the hd-ded I believe).
Will probably get a $13.99 price tag from Amazon, which would be cheaper than the import price....BIG win imho.
IF it's a DNR smear job, and that remains to be seen, I'll reevaluate upon hearing that news. But something tells me this will be the sought after release of this film!
AND release day is only a few days away from my Birthday =
I'll be 41 =

I already have the import, too. How can anyone pass on this (or wait for this new & potentially worse release) when it's region free and $15 shipped?!? Yeah....that was a no-brainer.

Simple: if the PQ isn't worth a damn, even if it was free, I wouldn't want it.
And $15 is still $15: I can do quite a bit with $15.

Finally! I almost bought the UK Blu, but since it had no special features, I held off.

Cannot wait for this!!

I actually ran this flick as a projectionist at The Bowl Drive-In Theatre in Salisbury, Md., on it's original theatrical release. Will love getting the blu-ray release of this one! ! !

For a Universal catalogue release this looks amazingly good on HD DVD and UK BD. I sold the HD version ages ago and picked up the barebones UK BD cheap, but I want the extras too. As long as Universal don't **** this one up by "improving" the picture quality, I am so there. Love this movie.

That might be a tall request, considering it's Uni we're talking about! Keeping fingers crossed.

Well, I won't be too annoyed if they balls it up because I've got a lovely BD version right here, it'd just be nice to have a more complete package on one disc.
