Funny or Die pulled its own Beyoncé on Wednesday, releasing Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal, a 50-minute spoof movie about the Republican presidential candidate starring Johnny Depp in the title role. The surprise release has been in the works for months, Funny or Die co-founder Adam McKay told the New York Times in an interview pegged to the film’s release. In addition to Depp, The Art of the Deal also stars Alfred Molina, Robert Morse, Patton Oswalt (as Merv Griffin), Jack McBrayer, Michaela Watkins (as Ivanna Trump), Henry Winkler, Stephen Merchant, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, and even Alf. Ron Howard, who directed the comedy, makes an appearance as himself. “Hi, I’m Ron Howard, and you can probably guess that I love film,” Howard says at the beginning of the film. He then goes on to explain that while The Art of the Deal was “thought to be lost in the Cybill Shepherd blouse fire of 1989,” it actually wound up hidden from public view. Trump, in a fit of anger, buried the project after it was preempted by Monday Night Football. (McKay compared the fake Funny or Die project to Jerry Lewis’ real The Day the Clown Cried, the comic’s Holocaust movie.) “On my 10th birthday, I saw something that changed my life,” Depp says as Trump as the fake movie opens. “A picture of a kid standing in front of the Taj Mahal. It was gorgeous, it was huge, and it was easily the classiest thing ever built by a Muslim.” Later in the film, following a cameo by Christopher Lloyd – spoiler alert – Trump shows up from the future, introducing himself as the president and talking about a cabinet meeting with Carmen Elektra. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/02/10...alflow_twitter |

Ok and? What does that have to do with anything? Screen Junkies is a Youtube company and has gotten actors, writers, directors, etc...to be apart of their content. Not sure why them being a YouTube channel is supposed to mean they can't afford something.

Rooster Teeth is a Youtube company and they just released a feature length film in theaters nationwide. It's an entirely new entertainment landscape, and it's more powerful every day. |

They don't hire huge Hollywood actors like Johnny Depp. The closest they've had is Kevin Smith and Elijah Wood.

it wasn't that long ago that we were talking about Netflix the same way we're not talking about Youtube.
and now Netflix has given us House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Beasts of No Nation, and much much more. Amazon just won multiple Golden Globes for their Mozart of the Jungle and gave us Chi-Raq |

Ok fine whatever i still don't get how that means Funny Or Die can't afford Johnny Depp. You do realize the top channels make millions a year right? PewDiePie is a millionaire from YouTube alone.

BTW, PewDiePie made over $12m last year, which would put him inside the top 50 highest earning celebrities in Hollywood. |

Starring Johnny Depp runtime 50 minutes If they aired this in 4 theaters in LA for a week it would be eligible for the Oscars so how is this not a movie? |

I'm not sure how it isn't a movie, it is feature length and the website and interviews describe it as such, and indeed more and more movies are just releasing online rather than going to theaters or even blu. Nor does it have to be political, FoD also did a similar biopic spoof movie of Steve Jobs.
