Default 25 feet HDMI run - Do I need a Booster

Hi Guys -

I just rearranged my room. My Denon 3800 is now 25 feet from my plasma HDTV. My Denon 3800 uses a 6 foot hdmi to connect to my Denon 4308, then my Denon 4308 a/v reciever takes a 25 feet journey to my plasma through a 25 foot Monster 1000hd HDMI cable (I know monster is over rated but I got it for free, so why not)

I wanted to ask if you think this 25 foot journey is to long for the denon 3800 to first go through the Denon 4308, then though the Denon 4308 to the plasma, or would I need a booster?

Thanks for your help in this matter

Thanks for your reply.

Can I ask you what brand of hdmi cable you have. Mine is rated for 10.4 Gbps. Do you think this will be enough. Or do I need a 15.6 Gbps.

Thanks

brand will not make a difference, and certainly dont be fooled into getting a name brand. as long as it is 1.3 or 1.4 you will be fine. you can get a 25ft hdmi cable from monoprice for $24.25

alright great. Thanks everyone.

I just wanted to make sure since the Denon 3800 is one of the best blu ray players and I did not want to lose "any" Picture quality with a 25 foot HDMI run.

Thanks

Default 25ft HDMI with CHEAP switch

The problem I am having is; I mounted my flat screen on the wall which required a 25ft HDMI cable. I bought a 3-into-1 HDMI switch and now I get "white flashes" when attempting to either watch HD channels or movies on demand. Not sure if it is the cheap switch or the cable but I am leaning towards the switch. Any ideas?

The shorter the HDMI cable the better. Try bypassing the switch to see if the issue is resolved. The switch might work fine with a HDMI cable run of 8 feet or less. Maybe 25 feet is pushing the limits of the switch. Try another brand or model of switch if you think the problem is the switch and not a distance issue.

I have a 25 ft run to a projector with no problems. And with HDMI you will not lose picture quality as its either there or its not , and in you case the white flashes means the digital signals are losing sync. HDMI is very complicated Handshakes galore every few milliseconds and if everything is not perfect it won't work correctly. Head over to Bluejeans cable they have very good explanation of good verses bad cable and they explain the different specs.
