That is good news indeed.

I'm a PS3 owner/supporter, so i'm very happy to hear that.

However, sadly no one uses those PS3 to watch Blu-ray movies.
Or so the duds say.

It is doing ok, but it got it's teeth kicked in as far as November's NPD numbers go.
But it is a slow road.

I remember when people thought the PS2 was too expensive, there were no games for it, it sucks, etc.

Those same people say the exact same things about the PS3, even though Sony shipped over 120+ million PS2's since then.

And on top of that, there are people who love microsoft and everything they do (why? I have no frickin' clue).

Default PS3 is the only True NexGen

I use my PS3 for BRay movies...what would be a cool statistic is to find out how my PS3 owners own at least 10 BRay movies versus XBox 360 owners having at least 10 un-HD DVDs...

This is good news indeed...Xbox 360 is slowing down to a creeping halt and our PS3 is just getting warmed up...just in time for Gran Turismo and Haze...wow...it's going to be fantastic year for BRay and PS3...

See what happens when you think of "now" than "later"?

Microsoft think of the "now" when they rush-launch 360 a year ahead.
They think by doing so would get them a head start and kick the PS3's ass.

Well, their plans might have work if it wasn't for the red ring of death. That alone is slowly bringing them down.

Sony think of the "later" when they made the PS3.
By putting a Blu-ray drive in there, that was one smart move.

Default Marathon

PS3 is in for the long haul...

With past performances of PS2...PS3 has the endurance to outlast the competition...

Better sales of the consoles means more exclusive games which will fuel better sales of the consoles...so on and so forth...

I would like to see PS3 commercial only show BRay movies rather than games...just once or twice...to let the not so technologically advanced folks know that PS3 is a stand-alone BRay player.

Two important things to remember:

1. The PS3 and Xbox360 compete for different dollars than the Wii. The Wii is murdering the charts, sure, but doing so by opening up new markets that don't find any appeal with the "HD" systems (older folks, non-gamers and casual gamers of all ages, anybody put off by the button memorization and twitch skill required of most PS3/360 games). The typical Wii sale goes to somebody that would never own a game system otherwise, as well as mainstream (hardcore) gamers that will own it plus a PS3 and/or a 360. The point is that the stellar sales numbers thrown up by the Wii are not leeching anything away from either PS3 or 360.

2. The PS3 and Xbox360 have a full year of seperation in their product cycles. This is huge. The life cycle for any new console is very well understood, and pretty easy to predict. In fact, if you align the sales numbers of both systems by launch date the PS3 is tracking exactly with the sales arc of the 360.

Console Sales From Launch

Despite the hysteria expressed by this generation of gaming press, the PS3 is doing just fine.

The Walmarts here have reduced their space for Wii games.

Quote from an employee - "Wiis sell, Wii games do not".

The PS3 didn't get it's teeth kicked in. There were a lot of people predicting it wouldn't even sell 200k in November.

Default I hear you, brother!

400000 is a lot of units...

Plus, I see another price cut from Sony...just in time for Sony's golden child Gran Turismo perhaps...or the all time favorite FF13...

I say PS3 is doing extremely well.

I agree with PS2 scenario...when it hit the streets at what, $299 or something...that was like crack cocaine...people wanted it but couldn't afford it!!! Or too scared to buy it...then it caught on like popsicles.

"The Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on has sold 269,000 units in the U.S. to date, which means about 3.4 percent of all 360s in America have the peripheral attached. Sony has sold 2.91 million PS3s (with Blu-Ray players included) in the U.S. to date. But overall, the most popular peripherals belong to the Wii."

Default What BDA and Sony should do

They should offer PS3 game and BRay combo packs at reduced costs...

That will get people educated and reward those of us who are fans of PS3 and BRay...

Someone start a petition!

I would say PS3 has an edge because it started off at a higher retail price. Imagine if the PS3 launched with the same price tag of X-box360.

Default Good point

The graph should look similar to Wii once PS3 prices start to drop below $300s...

Figure it out Sony! It's about world dominance...the profits will follow...

If Japanese can create a fearless mice, imagine what they can do with electronics...

I wonder if the Korean's glow in the dark cat clones will scare the fearless mice? Afterall, the fearless mice couldn't have been programmed to not fear the fearsome glow in the dark cats!!!
