For an additional $400.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/qj/ps3/~3/22225711/65930 If you want to secure a PS3, this is good. But the extra money I don't think is worth it. |

I know audiocubes and they're legit, but honestly: There's no way anyone can take preorders right now and guarantee anyone anything.
That premium can kiss my ass as well. |

Ditto. I'm all for the HDMI 1.3 but if I have to wait so be it. I'll wait outside Fry's a few hours early and try but I'm not paying extra.

I will definately be getting the premium version but I don't really think an extra 400 is worth it not to mention there really is no way they can guarantee that you will get one either.

At present, you've probably read on forums and other places for months now about people being able to put money down on preorders.
Don't believe it. They are being set up for a woeful disappointment. At best, they have paid for a preorder on a preorder. Sony has not released official SKU's and your tip off for REAL preorders is when you see places like EB and Gamestop finally announce it. I've put myself on their email lists in addition to my own contacts and as of yet, still no preorders ready to go yet from mainstream stores like these. I find that going to EB or Gamestop is the most reliable for this sort of thing. If you do it in a timely manner, you're not going to be stuck with bundles. Furthermore, this is where people get screwed over when they try and do these things online: You're stuck with expensive bundles, usually filled with games and things that you don't care about. I'm not sure why people would do something like this over the Internet myself. *shrugs* If you want a PS3, all I can tell you is: Stay on top of it and the moment you get news about preorders finally being taken, you need to be there as fast and early as you possibly can. FWIW, I've never failed yet to get a console on launch day if I wanted one, and that includes the 360. I've also never been there at midnight or anything else. There's never been a time yet where I haven't been able to leisurely walk in during the day time of the launch and get what I want. I'll do the best I can again here with the PS3 and it's either going to to work or it isn't. |

Preorders are preorders - a store doesn't need a SKU from the manufacturer, just a SKU within their own system to set things up. Now, whether you actually get a system on opening day is a completely different story. I mean, really. If a store is getting 20 units in, and they took 50 pre-orders, and all of them are numbered (1-50) then only the first 20 are likely to get a model.
So, places like FYE who took preorders early on, and have 100 orders in place, are NOT going to be able to fill those orders this year. The EB/GS/Funcoland chain (all owned by one company) decided to specifically avoid this issue for this gaming system and will either take preorders AFTER they know their real shipment numbers, or they will not take preorders at all. The former is a bit nicer because it won't force people to line up outside stores in November until the store opens. But, if there is to much notice on the preorders, people may end up doing that anyway. Anyone know what the EB/GS/FL plan is? Interesting that the links above already show the unit 'sold out' on preorders. Apparently the extra cash isn't to rich for some people out there. |

I will most likely be working on the day PS3 launches. So I highly doubt that I will get a PS3 this year. I have decided to get 20GB version as it now includes HDMI. 60gb HDD is not nessary and I got an ethernet to wifi adapter I can use for online content. So there is a chance I will get one.
I don't think it's nessary to reserve PS3, as many PS3 fanatics will buy 60gb version. Fools. I can replace the 20gb HDD to a standard 500GB SATA drive if i wanted too in the future. My Linksys game adapter is 11mbps which is twice the download speed of Road Runner. I have an old router which I will connect all my devices to. PS3, Xbox 1, PC on the LAN ports, and the 11mbps wifi adpter on the WAN port. All my devices will have 100% broadband speed of Road Runne while having 100mpbs lan to lan connecton speed which is double that of the 802.11g embeded wifi interface in 60GB PS3. In short I can stream vids from PC to PS3 faster than wifi, and have 5mps nearly lag free online gaming. ![]() |

Im in the same boat takezo. I will only buy the 60GB version if its the only one I can buy. That may be the case though since 80% of the systems released are said to be the premium.
This was the case with the xbox360 as well, but the difference is that anyone with the 360 actually had to have the premium since th elimination of the HDD meant no online. |

People that don't reserve one of these have NO chance in hell of getting one short of FleaBay or less than legal means. This status quo won't change until well after the New Year. Quote:

![]() A 20GB PS3 plus everything you just spelled out above costs way more than $600 all told, that's for sure. By the way, are we all really 100 percent clear on the difference between the two PS3's at this point? Last edited by JTK; 09-26-2006 at 07:13 PM. |
