I have a Panasonic SA-BTT370 Blu-Ray player that was a hand-me-down from a family member. I've played DVDs on it, but never a Blu-Ray. I tried playing the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-Ray on it last night, and I got the UNSUPPORT message on the little display panel, and a message on the TV that the disc couldn't be read.
It seems the device is up to date on the latest firmware - version 1.59. Its network connection works. I suppose it's possible it's a hardware problem, but I'm holding out hope that there's just something in the new disc that needs a firmware update to support. Maybe I'm dreaming... Panasonic wants 10 bucks just to answer my support call - do I have any better options? |

It has a SD card slot on the front - is that it? Should it be some particular kind of card?

More adventures in Hand-me-down Blu-Ray players:
I got Avengers: Age of Ultron from RedBox last night. The Blu-Ray player provides the same reaction: UNSUPPORT Should I now assume there's some hardware problem with the unit? It plays DVDs without problem - is it possible that the Blu-Ray hardware is dead, but the DVD components are working? |

Thanks for the good suggestion. I tried disconnecting from the network (it's been using Wifi - so I switched it to wired to make it disconnect) - and got the same results. I also found a setting to Prohibit downloading of BD-Live content, and that didn't help either.
In all cases, I insert the Blu-Ray disc, and the unit ponders it for about 30 seconds before concluding that it can't read it. I'm starting to suspect a hardware problem - any other ideas? Mike |
