Hopefully not 'prioritised' for HDR (or 'handicapped' for 1080) new releases. Otherwise, excited to get this done properly.

Hmm... If it includes all the trailers from the previous release (this press release only mentions the domestic trailer, but they usually don't advertise all trailers present, if any), I might have to bite the bullet, since the Blu-ray will have the updated remaster as well.

Odd that Sony goes through the trouble of transferring over the remaster on THIS blu-ray/UHD but not for Starship Troopers, considering Starship has always been one of their flagship titles for home entertainment (DVD, Blu-ray, etc.)...

I still only have a DVD copy of this, so I might as well upgrade to this new BD.

This is some great news! Love all the new specs on the release and that cover art is quite nice.
I'd LOVE to get that art on a steel. A steel would be cool, but man, they'd prolly release some crap POP cover art instead. Lord knows no one wants that!! Haha

This should be standard procedure for every studio.

I bought the 2011 Blu-Ray for $8.00 from Walmart a few years ago and even though I'm happy with it I wouldn't mind upgrading to the new 1080p edition if it provides a significant improvement in the video.

I had never owned Jumanji on any video format before I bought my 2011 Blu-Ray copy.

Some of the CGI in Jumanji is badly dated but some of it still looks pretty good.

The animals were deliberately made to look cartoony because of the limitations of CGI at the time. There's much worse CGI in other movies from the mid/late 90s and even well into the 2000s.

This is already like the third blu. Sony really know how to milk their products to death. I'll grab the UHD.

Yup. They've done mediocre blu followed up with pointless resisue and then finally a mastered in 4k blu on several of their tried and true older hits. At least this time the UHD is being released at the same time as the Mi4k blu. This time it looks like they've gotten it right - hope the updated blu is also included in the UHD pack.

You could also easily excuse the cartoonish appearance as being due to the fact that the animals were from the board game, and not reality. Having said that, I remember a few sequences looking pretty good, like the monsoon and stampede effects. Maybe they weren't though, and my memory is just playing tricks. Surely, though, the lion was real/animatronic and greenscreened/matted In where necessary.

The new movie looks absolute bollocks, but at least it's getting us the first film remastered. I hope it holds up, as I've not seen it in years.

Yeah, there was a, Mastered In 4K limited Blu-ray that was released, so let's have a UHD edition. I think it's a lot more fun than the 2014 version, a monster movie should be a bit hokey, & it doesn't muck around, forty minutes in & Godzilla is trashing New York.
