Looking forward to checking this one out. Being part of the Fusion line means it's cheaper too!

I noticed it had a lower MSRP (yay!) and it was "Flicker Fusion" - do you know what this line represents exactly?

Edit - I just saw this on the Francis Bushman set on DD answering my own question:

"Flicker Fusion" series, a new publication line that brings new projects, lesser known rarities, and archival restorations to light. With a nod to the steady stream of images that motion pictures utilize in creating the magic of moving images, our "Flicker Fusion" series will be an on-going way to offer high quality, pressed Blu-ray Disc publications at an affordable price, with more titles to be announced soon.

They did a brief overview with their first title in the line, This is Francis X. Bushman:

Watched the trailer and it's very intriguing, and being part of the Fusion line means it's also affordable. Flicker Alley is off to a good start in 2022 with this and Repeat Performances. Will be grabbing this.

Boy, is Flicker Alley slow with shipping. They printed a label a week ago for this, saying it shipped, but looks like USPS hasn't received the package yet... sigh...

Yup, this happened with my preorder of Repeat Performance as well (a subsequent order of Woman on the Run was much faster).

FYI, just looked this release up on Amazon and it currently says: "this title will be released on April 15, 2022." Perhaps that explains GnR's shipping delay? Maybe they're just a bit behind, hopefully that's all it is.

Edit: "they" being Flicker Alley

They finally handed it off yesterday to the USPS. Should be here early next week

Regarding the difference in dates, it seems to be a Flicker Alley thing that it's released 2 weeks earlier directly from them than from any retailer.

I saw this film for the first time at last year's TCM Film Festival where this new restoration premiered, and I was absolutely impressed by the film. Not only is the story of factory layoffs and union struggles still very much relevant today, but the film also tells a well-told and riveting story. Lloyd Bridges plays the well-meaning leader of the workers, and Russell Hardie is terrific as the "villain" of the story, a union-hating factory manager.

Flicker Alley already has a budget line of MOD products consisting of burned discs. If they can make cheaper pressed discs too, I'm guessing it's because of lower licensing costs.

Does yours have a dark bottom? My packaging suggests BD-R (not Blu-ray logo), but the disc itself looks like a pressed disc to me. In the past, when I got a BD-R, it was black on the bottom, not silver.

I have admit that it looked more like a pressed disk but there is a out layer border and it is a little darker than most pressed Blu Rays and the disc states Blu Ray Disc MOD Edition.

Mine's the same. Maybe it's a better quality burned disc than the usual black ones?

Anyway, while it is annoying not to be pressed, once again, there really isn't evidence that it won't last the same as pressed discs; and as far as this release is concerned, I can't see it being released by anyone else any time soon.

I just checked mine to see what you're talking about, and while I'm seeing what you're seeing about the border, this is definitely a pressed disc. The reason why you're seeing that border strip that looks a bit lighter than the rest of the disc is not due to it being burned (because it's not) but because of the artwork on the other side. The disc features dark artwork (perhaps why it looks a bit darker to you on most of the pressed side), but there's a ring around the disc toward the outer edge where there's no artwork, which makes that portion appear lighter because it's essentially see-through.

To sum up: it's a pressed MOD disc with a small, light band because there's no artwork in that spot. (MOD doesn't equal burned; it just means they're pressed on demand, in smaller batches.)

I suppose so. It just looks different to any pressed disc I've seen. Then again it looks different to any MOD disc I've seen.

Isn’t it missing the Blu-ray logo though? Doesn’t that tend to indicate BD-R?
