The classic 80's anime "Cat's Eye" is getting a reboot in 2025 from Disney+

A preview trailer has been released

Any fans of the original series? I really enjoyed it and their crossover with Lupin III so am very excited for this!

I’m so excited! Cat’s Eye was one of my favorites growing up. It’s so neat to see it getting a resurgence- and hopefully we’ll finally get an animated conclusion!

Reboot/remake? No thanks, I'll stick with the original. And the fact that Disney is involved makes it even worse. Nothing against Disney in general, their old stuff is great.

The CG Lupin movie was good, but I'm getting too much Ladybug & Cat Noir vibes. Would love to be proven wrong.

I still need to watch the Lupin crossover too.

If the trailer is indicative of what it will look like visually (which, why wouldn't it be) then no thanks...

Looks like it's going to be CGI based on the trailer or something like the animated Spiderman movies from Sony or the latest Ninja Turtles movie. Either way, not interested. I just started watching the original earlier this year and it's fantastic, why ruin with a dumb pointless remake especially from Disney?

...Well, OP aside, for now I'll stick with the crossover movie that came out last year for my 21st Century Cat's Eye fix~

(I'm sure the Disney+ recommendation row will attempt to get me to see this post-release anyway... XD)

Huge announcement. Cat's Eye really fell out of favor after City Hunter but for a generation only slightly older than me that was one of the big series and big serialized manga of the time. I grew up watching the tv series reruns and always loved it.

I'd love to be optimistic cause the presentation and music in the trailer is great, but they have to remember that sex appeal is one of the girl's major assets and not just brains and skill. if they downplay this element it will doom the series.

A lot of what I loved about the original was based on my romanticism of its era, which is hard to recreate. And Disney's MO for the past 20+ years has been to acquire properties and drive them into the ground. This trailer and news in no way get me interested.

This actually looks promising enough. Also maybe we can get the actual ending adapted this time (last time around the anime ended a little bit before the manga did so the ending was never adapted).

Someone in the comments said one of the characters from the manga is in this version that apparently wasn't in the og anime. So maybe they will adapt the ending of the manga this time.

Anyways this looks leagues better than that crappy cg cats eye special from a few years ago so I'll hopefully be able to finish this one.

This is looking a lot better than I expected. The animation and character design is very similar to the City Hunter movies that recently came out. I still think the character designs are a bit better in the City Hunter movies.

Also the are going to be voiced by a new cast instead of trying to get the old cast back, because let's face it they are getting old. They sounded good in Angel Dust though.
