Talking G.I. Joe - The Movie (1987 animated film) coming to Blu Ray!

G.I. Joe A Real American Hero: The Movie Blu-ray preorder

G.I. Joe Blu-ray Review

per HDRoom:

http://thehdroom.com/news/1987_Anima...o_Blu-ray/6451

Quote:
G.I. Joe's resurgence thanks to Paramount's The Rise of Cobra live-action movie has inspired Shout! Factory, the studio that released the 1980s G.I. Joe cartoons on DVD, to release the 1987 animated G.I. Joe film on disc format. More specifically, Blu-ray Disc.

Shout! Factory DVD producer Brian Ward tweeted "So the print's in excellent condition. Looks like we'll be doing GI JOE: THE MOVIE on Blu-ray" and "...the end credits for GI JOE: THE MOVIE finally came in. Gonna have a complete HD transfer!" over the past couple days, all but confirming the film's arrival in HD. Though Brian stops short of offering a time frame for release, it's a good bet the Joes will deploy before year's end.

G.I. Joe: The Movie introduced the fantasy element of Cobra La to the series but is best known for nearly killing off one of the main characters. Wrestler Sgt. Slaughter lends his voice portraying the Joe version of himself.

We'll pass along more G.I. Joe: The Movie on Blu-ray Disc information as it develops.
Got the 1986 Transformers (the REAL Transformers movie) from the UK, and now this!

YES YES YES YES YES YES!

My day just went from bad to EFFING AWESOME!

yeah, the movie sucks, but damn it was such a big part of my childhood, and I still love it today. I just bought the DVD a while back. But I can't wait for this! Shout! Factory has been great to us. Giving us full boxes of Transformers and G.I.Joe, now this! Hopefully they can release the TF movie, even though I already have the UK release.

I am mad at Shout! though. They canned their releases of Inspector Gadget on DVD a while back... They only released one set and now I can't find it for less than the equivilant cost of my left nut...

this movie did NOT suck!

there was blood and explosions and impalements and a kick ass intro (which I can't wait to hear in DTS-HD MA....it had better be lossless dammit!)

I'm surprised we're getting G.I. Joe: The Movie before Transformers, but I'll not complain. I liked Joe more than Transformers anyway.

Just when i was beginning to think we would never see some of that classic 80's animation on blu-ray! Hopefully sales will be good enough on this that Shout Factory will release the G.I. Joe and Transformers series' on blu. I would also LOVE to see Thundercats in HD.

Brian Ward from Shout Factory, who has been producing all these G.I. Joe and Transformers releases, has said that only SD sources exist, so a Blu-Ray release would be pointless because it would just be an up-convert, which your player will already do with the DVDs. The movies have film sources, though, which is why those were able to be released in HD.

Shout better not be too far behind with releasing Transformers The Movie on Blu Ray if this is getting a Blu Ray release.

introduced? No. He was introduced earlier in the year the movie came out in a 4 part arc, but he did play a large role.

If my old memory serves me well, I believe he was indeed introduced in the series but the movie explained his origin and
[Show spoiler]... Cobra Commander turned into a real snake ... or something like that.

Yeah you're right cause the first time I saw this movie I thought this was when he was being introduced only to find out he came out in season 1 or 2 before the movie.
