Smile Samsung UHD player & 65UB9500-hdmi 2.0/hdcp 2.2

I was having issues with two different Roku 4 players not being able to output 10 bit via Vudu app and a 10 bit hdcp 2.2 labeled hdmi input via my 2014 65UB9500- it would default to 8 bit for some reason. I ordered the Samsung UHD Blu-ray player along with The Martian UHD. I recieved no hdcp errors with The Martian UHD disc, as i ocassionally did with the Roku 4 but want to know if there is a way, like the PS3's display button did to display what video codec, bit rate, and mbps the movie is playing in ( obviously hevc), the bit rate for audio and video. I was told by samsung that the player will default to 10 bit if you have it hooked into a 10 bit port but before i bought the uhd player and movie, i contacted my warranty provider, since 2 Roku units would not play in 10 bit ( only 8) via device settings, so my warranty provider thought my motherboard needed replacing, so they sent out a new mother board & im supposed to contact them back to schedul an install with a tech at a time. I need to know if theres a button or set of buttons to press to see what bit rate The Martian is being played back via the hdcp 2.2 port its in. Can anyone help with info about the player or my precarious situation? Thank you so much for your time and help to reply.

Port 1 is HDCP 2.2 but not 10 bit color deep. Port 3 is 10 bit color deep but not HDCP 2.2 compatible on that tv.

That seems nonsensical. Netflix 4K running mbps looks great though. So is there anyway to get 10 bit hdcp 2.2 encoded material? LG told me all ports are hdcp 2.2 but only one is 10 bit- i assume hdmi 3, as its labeled 10 bit and all inputs support hdcp 2.2, so you may be wrong there. I hooked the 4K blu ray player into hdmi 3 and had no hdcp 2.2 issues-The Martian played back. So input 3 is only one that supports 10 bit and hdcp 2.2- the others are 8 bit. The input that says 10 bit is also HDCP 2.2 compliant, as are the other lesser 8 bit HDMI ports, so......

Also,

Enough said, it's 10 bit HDCP 2.2- just no HDR or Dolby Vision.

Really? Cool then. I had a private chat with other user that has the same tv and says that when he hooks the samsung player on the HDMI 3 port labeled as 10 bit he doesn't get 2160p, the player downscales to 1080p. Can you check? Plus he complained to LG service asking how could they have released a tv with a 10bit hdmi not compatible with HDCD 2.2 and they told him that maybe they would release a hardware upgrade like samsung did to play HDR, but in this case just to make HDMI imput 3, HDCP 2.2 compatible. I have the same tv but not 4k player yet to test.

Are you sure that when the 4k samsung player is connected to hdmi 3 outputs 2160p ???

I had the same issue with my LG 55UB8500 tv. HDMI 1 is the hdcp port and HDMI 3 is the 10bit port. I bought the HDfury Integral. A little pricey, but it is a work around to the problem. It allows the 4k UHD disc to play on the HDMI 3 port.

And can you enjoy the 10 bit and deep colour with that HDFury Integral?

Any link to purchase it?

What does exactly mean? Sorry for asking, trying to learn yet. Does it mean loss in image quality or any kind of downconvertion from 2160p to 1080p?

I know this is a old post but, I have head this from a few places now and wanted to know if any new news here.

I have a 65UB9500... I am hearing they might make a hardware upgrade to support HDR. Even from LG from 2 reps I heard "MIGHT"

Do you know what Samsung set they upgraded HARDWARE to give HDR ?

I will call again but, I want some ammo here saying that Samsung offered a Hardware upgrade for it

Ill chat LG and see what they say. It could be that my tv has more upgrades since its the 9500 series not 8500 series. What do you want me to ask them, which port supports hdcp 2.2 along with 10 bit color? I have a Roku 4 hooked up to my tv now because im sending uhd blu-ray player back to amazon to wait for cheaper model- preferably an updated PS4 so i can rent movies but when i set my roku 4 up i selected 10 bit and it accepted and works. Is there a way to upload pics from my phine to this site to share- will show u the ports- ask LG i know they said all mine are hdcp 2.2 but only hdmi 1 was 20 bit. If i can upload pic, ill show u the labeling on side of my tv. It could be that mine had an upgrade due to it being the 9500 series and yours is 8500.

How do i upload a pic i just took from my iphone of the hdmi inputs on the side of my tv where it explicitt says hdcp 2.2 10 bit?
